If you’ve been waiting for that young unicorn with all known history since birth… here he is.
VooDoo is a striking young GVHS gelding with exceptional presence, abundant feather, and a kind, willing personality. At only 4 years old he offers a wonderful foundation with the temperament and versatility to excel in a variety of programs. Owning him is like owning a mastiff…. They’re too big to be in your lap but that’s right where they want to be 😆

In the barn and pasture, VooDoo is a true gentleman with no vices or bad habits. He stands quietly in cross ties or hard tied, stands to be clipped, bathed and pampered. He loads and travels with ease, and is well mannered for the vet and farrier. He turns out in a mixed herd and integrates seamlessly into new settings. He’s easy to catch and is often the first to meet you at the gate.
VooDoo is broke to both ride and drive and is proving to be an enjoyable and uncomplicated partner.
Under saddle, he stands to be tacked and mounted and moves off balanced and willingly at all three gaits. He has been on the trails both alone and in groups, on and off of the farm including to several state parks throughout Maryland and Tennessee. He handles varied terrain with confidence, including bridges, water, hills, ditches, ravines and more taking everything in stride. He rides quietly everywhere you take him and is always level headed in new environments. He is not looky or spooky and has the temperament of a seasoned trail horse. Voodoo does not have much arena experience but has ridden in them and has always been the same willing partner. While VooDoo is young and still green, he has proven himself to be a reliable and dependable partner with a spectacular mind.
Under harness, VooDoo has a solid start. He stands to be harnessed and hooked and walks off calmly. He has a super cute trot and is just so handsome in harness.
VooDoo would make a lovely addition to a pleasure or show home. He grows a beautiful, long mane, which was rubbed during the summer (yes, it hurt my soul) but is on its way back in. This is a special young horse with a bright future ahead and the temperament to match.

We took Freyja and Voodoo to the river the other day and I said I needed to bring a red dress next time for Freyja… so yesterday I did just that and I’m so thrilled with how the photos came out.

This cute little mare is getting a nice tune up and then she’ll have a full sales ad! 🦄

I wanted to touch on something about young horses because almost everyone wants a young horse these days and I see this happen quite a bit.

When you purchase a young, broke horse that has been in a consistent riding and training program and seems like the perfect fit for you, it’s important to understand that they’ll likely need to stay in that kind of program to maintain that level of training. Buying a trained young horse does not mean the training is finished.

A young horse doesn’t just get all those buttons from months or years of consistency and then magically keep them forever. If they go from being ridden and trained regularly to having a beginner ride them a couple times a week up and down the driveway, walking a trail or lolligagging around the arena, you can expect some of that training to fade.

And this is where people sometimes get frustrated with a horse or seller after bringing them home. The horse was so great for the trainer but a few months later they’re saying “He wasn’t like this when I bought him.”
Well… he probably wasn’t.

The horse didn’t suddenly forget how to be good. The routine, consistency, riding, and training that created that behavior changed.
Think of it like school. You can’t teach a child something, stop practicing it, and expect them to retain everything perfectly. Horses are no different. Young horses are still learning. They need repetition, consistency, and continued education to really retain what they’ve been taught. That doesn’t mean every young horse needs to be ridden every single day, but it does mean you need to be realistic about the time, consistency, and continued training they require to stay the horse you fell in love with in the first place.
People over look the older horses because they don’t want an “old” horse but most really need that older horse. The one that will more than likely stay broke no matter how many errors you make or how much “fun” you want to have instead of focusing on training and bringing that young horse along. That older horse already has the experience, retained that knowledge and is ready to train you or have fun with you.

Is anyone looking for a 5yr old Amish owned Morgan mare? Papers in hand. Fantastic lines. Never had a hard hand. We personally know the family that owns her and she is a little princess to them. She was sent off for 90 days professional driving training. She’s been sitting the last few months due to the owners broken arm. When we hooked her she was a little sticky around the barn but drove really nice away from the barn. She rode great at all three gaits for being a driving horse. She is fancy and would make one heck of an endurance horse for someone. She is for a more experienced rider/driver. She is athletic and wants to work.
