Dutch Dutch Goose

Dutch Dutch Goose Family Adventures in Japan and Beyond Welcome to Dutch, Dutch, Goose!

Our journey began when our first child was just 6 weeks old, sparking a passion for travel that has only grown stronger with each adventure. Our family has explored the globe, from local treasures just around the corner to distant wonders across continents. Now based in Tokyo, we've called many places home, each one leaving its mark on our hearts and our journey. Our mission is simple: to empower

and inspire you to see the world, whether solo, with a partner or as a family. We believe that travel is for everyone and that there's a way for all of us to explore that feels comfortable and enriching. Through our stories, tips, and insights, we aim to help you discover the joys of travel, find activities that excite you, and embrace the beauty of our planet. For us, travel is more than just visiting new places; it's a pathway to understanding, a way to connect with others, and a means to build a better world through shared experiences and perspectives. Join us as we navigate the globe, sharing our adventures and encouraging you to step out and explore, in whatever way suits you best. Let's see the world together and make every journey an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect.

I can’t believe how lucky I to have this amazing life on this incredible planet.

To everyone who has made me feel loved this year - thank you! No matter if we have been friends for many years, just met, or are Para social podcast friends please know I’m thankful for you and you made me smile this year.

More of this please!

Turns out I love outrigger canoe surfing. Nothing like paddling out and getting to ride the waves back in. We chat, count and dig in. Turtles pop up next to the boat. Sometimes I get really emotional seeing the land from the water.

Thankful for our steersmen who spend time teaching us the sport and putting us perfectly into the waves.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaiʻi 🌺

Lei are a way of showing love, respect, and connection. Worn for celebrations, welcomes, and goodbyes…and sometimes just because. Leis are about offering your time and attention.

Today we made our own haku lei, learning as we went. It was way harder than it looks, but once I got into it was almost meditational. It’s a beautiful way to connect with Hawai’i and with each other.

Have you ever made one?

Had the opportunity to participate in a double hulled canoe race at Rainbow Bay Marina. Unbelievably our boat won. These are the traditional canoes of the Polynesian Islands. Canoeing with them is all about paddling as one. When the whole boat paddles together you glide through the water. It’s an incredible experience. We had a lot of laughs too and now some very sore shoulders!

We had a question on the podcast about loosing yourself to motherhood, partially in those early years. (That episode will be out on Monday.) This post is a reminder that seasons change.

One of the incredible parts of living in Hawaii has been having my worldview expanded. I just didn’t learn much about Hawai’i, and honestly didn’t give it much thought. Now that we live here everyday I’m learning and growing.

This weekend we were invited to the premier of a symphony written about this moment history that led to a resurgence of claiming the Hawaiian culture and ensuring it never faded again. The sailing of an ancestral double hulled canoe from Hawai’I to Tahiti using only ancestral navigation techniques - Hōkūleʻa Rising!

Sometimes we all just need to be out on the water to get along….sort of.

Don’t forget you can catch me with my amazing co-hosts and twice a week talking about all things parenting. We will make you feel less alone on this journey!

Catch us on ‘s Care and Feeding wherever you get your podcasts! (Yep. Even on You Tube!)

It’s the month of the military child! And these kids are the best. Bloom where they are planted. Deal with all the uncertainty. Happy to celebrate all month long.

Thankful for friends and bike rides home. We are settling into our little life here nicely. The world is on fire, and then these little moments of joy still exist. Being human is crazy.

Natural Egg Dying!

Hawai’i Botanical Gardens do not disappoint. Today’s class was at Wahiawa Botanical Gardens and was all about natural, edible dyes. We learned how to prepare the dyes and then gave them a shot with our Easter eggs.

A really fun way to celebrate spring!
