1) Pick the vibe: relax, adventure, or a little of both
2) Choose the length: 3-4 nights, 5-7 nights, or 8+
3) Decide what matters most: food, shows, ports, or the ship itself

Once you’ve got those 3 answers, the “best cruise” gets a lot easier to find.

If you’re cruising out of Galveston, Texas with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Norwegian (NCL), or Princess, you might get an offer to upgrade your cabin after you’ve already paid in full. Sounds tempting, but is it worth it?

Pros:

💰 Upgrades often cost less than booking a better cabin upfront

🛏️ You could get more space — inside to balcony, or balcony to suite

📍 Sometimes you get a better location or higher deck

🛎️ Suites may come with perks like priority boarding and lounge access

Cons:

🎲 You don’t get to pick your exact cabin — it’s assigned

🔄 You might lose a preferred location or be separated from friends

🚪 Upgraded cabins can sometimes be over noisy public areas

🔒 Most upgrades are final and non-refundable
