With global cruising increasing year over year by over one million guests (37.2 million in 2025 to an expected 38.3 million in 2026), it’s best to book 1-2 years in advance to get the best rates, the most popular cabin choices and deck levels.

However, "how far in advance" depends heavily on your specific travel needs:
• Book 1-2 Years Ahead If...You want a specific cabin: Suites, accessible rooms, and connecting staterooms sell out fastest.
• If it’s a bucket-list or peak-season trip: Cruises to places like Alaska, the Mediterranean, or during the holidays (Christmas/New Year's) frequently are sold out 9-12 months in advance.
• You want time to pay it off: Booking early allows you to make payments over a longer period.

2. Book 3-6 months Ahead If...You are flexible:
• You don't mind which room you get or which ship you are on.
• You live near a homeport: If you don't need to buy expensive last-minute flights, you can take advantage of "last-minute deals" that cruise lines offer to fill empty cabins after the final payment deadline.

Hidden Gems in Mexico!

Escape the heavily trafficked mega-resorts and explore Mexico's most spectacular secret spots, ranging from surreal jungle sculpture gardens and cliffside hot springs to remote, crystal-clear coastal lagoons.

1. Las Pozas, Xilitla (San Luis Potosí): Concealed deep in the subtropical jungle of the Huasteca Potosina region, this surrealist sculpture garden was built by eccentric English poet Edward James. Concrete stairways to nowhere, Gothic arches, and massive flower-shaped sculptures blend perfectly with natural waterfalls and lush greenery.

Details: Plan to fly into the nearest major hubs (Tampico or San Luis Potosí city) and take a bus or rent a car.

2. Grutas Tolantongo (Hidalgo): A breathtaking natural oasis nestled in a rugged mountain canyon, this destination features thermal cliffside cave pools, a roaring river of naturally heated miner
al water, and cascading waterfalls.

4. Balandra Beach (Baja California Sur): Often called the most beautiful beach in Mexico, Balandra is a protected, shallow bay where the water is as calm and warm as a swimming pool. The water barely reaches your shins, allowing you to wade out hundreds of meters to see the famous "El Hongo" (mushroom) rock formation.

Details: Just a 30-minute drive from La Paz. Pack your own water and food, as there are no restaurants or vendors on site.

5. Lagunas de Chacahua National Park (Oaxaca): If you want to escape the growing crowds of Puerto Escondido, head 45 minutes further to this remote chain of bioluminescent lagoons and pristine, undeveloped surf beaches.

Details: Accessible via a collective taxi from Puerto Escondido to the town of Zapotalito, followed by a scenic boat ride through the mangroves.

Best time to visit Alaska

The best times to visit Alaska is between early-May to mid-October. This is when restaurants, shops, and tours/excursions are open.

The peak times to visit Alaska is during the short summer season from mid-June to mid-August. You’ll get maximum daylight (16 to 24 hours), the warmest temperatures (60s to 70s°F), and optimal conditions for wildlife viewing and outdoor excursions. CON: It’s the busiest season, most expensive and most crowded time to visit.

Early season between May to Early June is the best for budget-conscious travelers. You’ll find better deals on lodging and cruises (especially when booking in advance). The weather is cooler, some consider it still too cold to visit.

Late August to mid October is great for viewing the tundra’s vibrant fall colors and catching the first hints of the Northern Lights in the evening. And great for shopping as the season is coming to an end and you can find great bargains. And no mosquitos.

Alaska is an amazing adventure with amazing Mountain View’s, glacier and the best wildlife.
