For shipments coming into the U.S. the Customhouse Broker is the facilitator for the importer, getting cargo from point of entry, interfacing with Customs, other government agencies and companies that are involved in the movement of the goods to destination. The Role of the Freight Forwarder
For shipments leaving the U.S. the Freight Forwarder is the expeditor, interfacing with all the necessary government agencies and companies involved in getting the cargo to its foreign destination. Many of our members are both Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders. Licensed Brokers and Forwarders are the voting members of the Association. Through that voice, the members of HCBFFA are active in setting, molding and directing policy by Congress, Customs, related federal agencies and city and state entities in relation to international trade issues.
