From Floreana Island to HTX: hand-delivered mail straight from the Galapagos! 🐢✉️

​During our trip to the Galapagos, we stopped at historic Post Office Bay on Floreana Island. Back in the 18th century, whalers set up a wooden barrel to leave unstamped letters home, trusting other sailors headed in that direction to deliver them. The tradition lives on today: travelers drop off postcards and sort through the barrel to find mail addressed to people near their own hometowns—no stamps, strictly hand delivery.

​We found a few postcards addressed to Houston, brought them back with us, and hand-delivered them to local doorsteps this week. There’s something truly special about keeping a centuries-old tradition alive in the modern world!
