✈️ Here’s a crazy travel story for ya!!
So today I was flying back home to Houston from Des Moines, only to have my flight CANCELLED. 😡
You know that feeling… You’ve been sitting at the airport for hours, then about 30 minutes before you’re supposed to board, you find out there’s a delay.
Okay… no big deal. 😬
So you sit there for another TWO HOURS waiting…
Only to hear - “Your flight has been cancelled.”
Wait… WHAT?! 🤯
This is where I was SO happy I became a travel advisor.
I already had the airline’s phone number saved in my contacts, so instead of standing in a long customer service line with everyone else, I was able to call and get another flight booked.
I rescheduled for the next day and thought, Okay… now I just have to figure out what to do tonight.
Since the airline provided a hotel voucher, I started going back and forth in my head:
🏨 Stay at the hotel?
🚗 Rent a car?
👨👩👧👦 Have a family member come all the way back to the airport and pick me up, then bring me back tomorrow?
I was still trying to figure out my plan when I overheard another woman on the phone. She was just as frustrated and trying to figure out what to do because she had accidentally cancelled her hotel voucher.
I walked over and said, “If I don’t use my voucher, you can have mine. And if I do use it, you can stay in the room with me.”
I know… I know… I’M CRAZY! 😂🤷🏼♀️
But honestly, I just thought, If I were in her situation, I’d hope someone would do the same for me.
And here’s the craziest part…
We had only known each other’s first names for about 10 minutes
…and now we’re sharing a hotel room.
I have no idea if I’ll ever see Marsha again after tonight, but I’m really glad our paths crossed.
Sometimes plans change,
Flights get cancelled. Things get frustrating.
But sometimes, those unexpected moments turn into the stories you remember the most. ❤️✈️
And tonight, I’m reminded that a little kindness can go a LONG way.
