Freedom Ride KC Cancer affects individuals, families and communities everywhere. Alex’s Lemonade Stand focuses on the fight against childhood cancers.

The Freedom from Cancer Ride is a local response by members of the United We Ride cycling team to raise funds for cancer research, treatment and family support services. The team strives to unite local communities in a common fight against cancer and promote bicycling safety, transportation, fitness and fun. United We Ride has raised nearl million for Multiple Sclerosis research and treatment thro

ugh the team’s annual participation in the MS Bike Ride. Because cancer impacts even more people, it was a natural fit for the team to embrace this new cause with the same enthusiasm and aggressive goals. Benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a portion of the net proceeds from the Freedom Ride are committed to this great organization. The Freedom from Cancer Ride begins in Independence, Missouri and offers options ranging from 1 to 35 miles on Little Blue Trace Trail or 20-86 miles of country roads in Eastern Jackson County and Western Lafayette County. The road route takes cyclists through Independence, Sibley, Buckner, Wellington and Lexington.

Start from Buffalo Wild Wings in Independence Mo at 8 am
Additional parking at the empty GEHA building across the street.

Hang out afterwards at BDubs for a cold one. Have a great 4th!

Thanks for the great group of volunteers and riders today. Wow what a great day to ride! We have had a bunch of winners pick up prizes at the end. We still have the Freedom Ride clock signed by Louie and Neil to be claimed. Check your numbers, looking for the number that ends in 248 for the grand prize! Plus a couple of the JBL’s left. 224 from Wellington to Lexington is under water from last nights rain. We will keep an eye on this to see if it goes down. There are a few other ways to pick up that last 7 plus 7 miles on the Lexington out and back. We may add a 2nd loop on little Blue Pky and 78. So be prepared if there is a change. This isn’t the first time 224 has been underwater.
