So just to keep on doing things like I do it took three trust to find the glass to put on top of the hot house/ cold frame we put together this year.

Permaculture is all about protracted and thoughtful observations, instead of protracted and thoughtless labor, according to Bill Molison the one who originally came up with the concept of permaculture, which is all fine and dandy for some but then there is me, and a few others out there that can relate to what I am going to say,, if your one of those people then until my hat to you now. So here í am working away at things around here, whoever thought creating a personal permaculture paradise is easy has done bumped their head, because it is NOT easy at all, anyway here I am working away and feeling good about the amount of progress I have made as I am there probing myself up on the handle of my rake drinking my whiskey and coke getting eaten alive by mosquitoes feeling good about the amount of space I have gotten cleaned up and can do something with when what should happen!! Yep you guessed it I got a big idea! Just popped right inside my mind like a bubble gum bubble, yep right then and there I decided I would dig up and transplant all of my raspberry and blackberry bushes so that they would go along the edges of the orchard and garden and by that I mean the other three edges not the edge they were on and have been on for two season now oh no I decided that the other edges is where they should go, so instead of thinking it all the way through I dive right in because I was already two drinks into the evening and feeling energetic so for the next week I dig up the raspberry and blackberry bushes transplanting them to the other edges of the garden, get them all there and what do you think happened then? Yep right again wow your all so great,!! Yep I changed my mind that fast like it wasn't nothing at all, and I decide that in fact no the bushes should not go where I just worked so hard to put them instead they need to go along the edge of the nice cleaned up space I just finished so yep guess what I did for the next four days, holy crap right again I spent the last few day transplanting berry bushes yet again the good news is that this time I am a 100% sure that this is where they need to be.

So we have been at this permaculture paradise for a minute now and have gotten a lot done, and have a lot left to do, but we are working at a little bit everyday, progress is progress no matter how messy or slow it is as long as we are going in the right direction then it's progress,, and as we have progressed onward toward our personal permaculture paradise we have discovered many new and wonderful things both big and small, and have collected tidbits of knowledge and wisdom, as we learned valuable lessons which I guess is all part of the journey, and we are supposed to enjoy the journey.so that's what we are doing.

Have you ever seen them Kelly hump a road like this just big square pits along the whole length of the road in each direction, leap frogging a pit and a pile alternating again and again down the whole road. I mean usually it's one ditch dug across the width of a road on each end but I have never seen anything like this.

Our next big step in our journey toward our permaculture paradise, is to redo our driveway which has eroded to a point of a tidal wave of sand and gravel which creates a muddy mess in the lower sections of the driveway, there is no ditches to channel runoff and rain away from the center of the driveway. Another problem is the lack of space for the snow during the winter months, without a place to put the snow the driveway become a nightmare to navigate during the winter often times forcing people to back up the entire length of it because turning around us impossible. With a permaculture approach to this project we will be able to redo our current driveway transforming it into a spacious circle driveway with that center being the future location for a future water feature to be installed. We will be digging out shallow ditches to channel runoff and rain in the spring, bring the driveway up the grade and to the proper slope as well. The first step is to haul the first truck load of grand and gravel to be spread in the lower sections first.

With a major property clean up underway, once the space along the sides of the house all cleared of junk and clutter, there was the space for one of the main elements that was a priority to be added, which was our dog playground area. It was an essential addition for us and our dogs, it needed to be large, and fenced in well enough to be secure for my beloved and spoiled rotten dogs. With a few minor design adjustments during the installation, the final result was AMAZING!! A large secure fenced in dog play area that is flexible enough to give us several options, we can close the dogs in the play area, or the yard area or on the deck or any combination of the three connected areas, with a large enough space to accommodate all the different components that make a dog playground, including a round tube tunnel, a balance beam, hurdles, ramps, even a tetter- totter and a large fake fire hydrant. Our dogs are happy and so are we!! So now that dog play area is installed we can begin to put together the dog playground!!

With us here the first task we had to take on was a major property clean up, which was admittedly an overwhelming task, with decades of junk and broken down cars strewn throughout the area, we were faced with what seemed to be such a monumental task that would take forever to finish, not knowing where to start or what was the best strategy we found it easy to put it off for another day, of course another day always followed that day. When we used the permaculture approach to land management that we began to look at it all differently, through careful observations we began to look at it from a variety of different perspectives, seeing the individual components and how it all formed the larger whole of our environment, it was then that we identified the things we had not seen before. That was when we rolled up our sleeves and donned our work gloves, and jumped in feet first, semi- methodically we began clearing away the junk that cluttered the area, working at it a little everyday, the progress of the day fueled the next day.

I feel it is important to add that it was about that time that I realized one important realization, which I feel must be shared - WORDS OF WISDOM WORTH REMEMBERING,- THERE ARE TIMES IN VARIOUS PROCESSES THAT PROGRESS TAKES ON THE FORM THAT CLOSELY RESEMBLES A DISASTER ZONE, BUT THAT IS BECAUSE THINGS GET WORSE BEFORE THEY GET BETTER, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE DISMANTLE WHAT IS THERE IN ORDER TO CREATE GREATNESS, SO A MESSY DISASTER ZONE IS PROGRESS TOO.

Although our major property clean up is still currently in progress, we have made great progress, and that is what permaculture is about, it's not about how quickly you accomplish it, it's about the journey and wisdom you collect along the way.

Every client, and every property are completely unique and individual of all other people and places, and we are no different. We are unique individuals that are dealing with a unique property. Which in my opinion is one of the best things about what we do, no two people and no two places are the same, every client is special with their own individual needs or preferences and every one of those clients has a unique environment that presents us with its own unique set of resources and set of challenges. As certified permaculture consultants we are trained to carefully identify those unique characteristics in our clients and their environments, identifying the resources, and obstacles that present. Having identified those things we can then meticulously observe our surroundings, landscape, clients, and all other living things around us. Through our careful observations we can learn how all things connect to form a whole system made up of countless individual components, whether it be landscape, plant, people, animals or any other factor, knowing how it all connects, we can then figure out how to work in harmony with the whole system, working to create an environment that is healthy, beautiful, and functional in which all living things plant, animal, and human can both survive and thrive. All this is why what we do is so important and so beneficial in so many ways. Permaculture allows us to find solutions, resources and most importantly a way to restore the balance that each individual environment is need of if it is to be healthy enough to thrive. It may sound complicated, and at times it might be, but even at its most complex it is simply about seeing with more then the eye, looking closely enough to see the smallest detail while not loosing focus of it all as a whole. If your interested in learning more, or curious to see the process first hand then your in for a treat, coming up next an exclusive look into our own personal journey as we work to create our own personal permaculture paradise.

Our permaculture paradise project started with an idea no bigger the the smallest of seed, and after a lot of thought that idea seed began to sprout and little by little it grew and it became a big idea, that bloomed into a beautiful flowering bush the only one of it's kind in the whole world.
Ok ok so that's the fairy tale version. This is how it really went.

Having been left at home with only my dogs to supervise me, I got to looking around, which got me thinking, the more I looked at everything the more I thought and it snowballed from there so by the time someone came to check on me I was outside with my work gloves on hair all a mess dirt all over my face taking on the monumental task of a full scale property clean up that nobody in their right mind would ever even consider starting little lone imagine could ever actually be completed!! And so it was how our journey began!! First step was a major property clean up that is such a task in itself it may take several lifetimes of continuous work to get it all done but little by little day by day we are making steady progress!! Which is all that really matters !!
