More ships are sailing the Caribbean, and that's creating some interesting opportunities for travelers.

According to recent Financial Times reporting, average advertised starting fares for certain January 2027 Caribbean cruises were down nearly 12% compared with a year earlier.

But here's what I tell travelers: a lower fare doesn't automatically make a cruise a better choice.

The ship, itinerary, cabin, and what's included still matter. And not every sailing is seeing the same price movement.

Sometimes the most valuable thing I do happens before a single dollar is spent.

It’s asking questions you might not have thought to ask.

It’s explaining why two cruises that look similar online could deliver very different experiences.

And sometimes? It’s telling you that the cruise you originally had your heart set on might not actually be your best fit.

Halloween on the High Seas is fun. 🎃 But what stood out to me most on Disney Destiny is how well this kind of cruise can work for a multigenerational family.

The kids have their own world onboard, with age based clubs, activities, characters and entertainment designed for them.

The adults get their own version of the vacation too, with adults only areas, lounges, dining, spa time and quieter spaces when they want a break from the full Disney energy.

Then everyone comes back together for dinner, shows, Halloween activities, character moments and all the little things that make a family trip feel memorable. 🎃👻

That is what people sometimes miss about Disney Cruise Line.

A multigenerational trip does not work because everyone wants to do the same thing all day.

It works because everyone can enjoy the trip in their own way and still have plenty of meaningful time together.
