What is the Retreat Sundeck on Celebrity Xcel actually like?

This is one of those Celebrity Cruises suite perks that makes a lot more sense when you can actually see it.

I’m standing inside The Retreat on Celebrity Xcel here. As I pan up, you can see the Retreat Sundeck continuing to the upper level. Then when I turn toward the door, the regular public deck is right outside.

That separation is part of what you’re getting when you book The Retreat.

And if you’re deciding whether a suite is worth the upgrade, I wouldn’t compare the cabin alone. I’d look at the entire experience that comes with it and how much you would actually use those spaces.

If you’ve already emailed me, completed a form, or we’ve been talking about a sailing, you are on my radar. I’m working through everyone as quickly as I can and giving each request the attention it needs.

Celebrity 2028 opened TODAY…and I just got the news I was hoping for. 👀🎉

Sea Day Travel has group space!

I wasn’t going to promise anything ahead of time because group space is never guaranteed when new sailings open. I had to wait and see what Celebrity actually released to me this morning.

And my very first 2028 client?

Their Sea Day Travel group rate WITH perks is saving them about $900 compared with booking direct. 🙌

THAT is why I wanted to wait and see what became available before telling people where the value was.

Group space won’t be available on every sailing or in every category, and rates can change. But when it’s there, it can absolutely be worth checking.

You can absolutely book a cruise yourself.

That’s never really been the point. 😉

Most of my clients are perfectly capable of finding a ship, choosing a date and clicking a button.

What they want is someone who knows what to look at before that button ever gets clicked.

Which itinerary actually fits the trip they’re trying to have.

Whether that cabin location matters more than it looks like it does.

If the upgrade is really worth the difference.

When booking early matters…and when waiting to compare may make more sense.

And once it’s booked, they’re not starting over every time a question comes up.

They have one person who already knows the trip, the priorities and the decisions that got them there.

Because booking a cruise is usually the easy part.

Making the right decisions around it is where the value really is.

You don’t work with a travel advisor because you can’t book your own cruise.

You work with one because you’d rather get it right the first time. ❤️

That’s the part of this job I love.

I think one of the best things a travel advisor can do is keep traveling. ✈️🛳️

Because there are some things you simply understand differently once you’ve experienced them yourself.

River cruising has become an important part of what I help clients with, so when I had the opportunity to spend a week sailing through France with Avalon, I wanted to experience it for myself.

And yes, I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. 😆 But my travel advisor brain was definitely still working.

How does a river cruise actually feel day to day?

Where do you find downtime?

What little details matter once you’re actually living onboard for a week?

Those are the things I notice when I travel because they give me better context when I’m helping someone decide what’s right for their trip.

Every time I travel, I come home with more knowledge, better questions to ask and more firsthand experience to share with my clients.

And I hope I never stop doing that.

For me, that’s part of what it means to Cruise Better. 💙
