🚨 LABOR DAY DEALS ARE HERE 🚨

Some relationships just aren’t meant to last forever.

Our beloved 7-speed tandem has spent its days as a rental, carrying couples, friends, siblings, and we know for sure a date that didn't stand the test of time. But now…it’s time for this two-person adventure machine to find its forever home.

Regularly $999
LABOR DAY SALE: $600

It’s in great condition, has been well cared for, and comes with a warranty because we’re confident this relationship is going to work out.

Perfect for date nights, bike paths, weekend adventures, or settling once and for all who is actually doing more pedaling.

$600. Seriously.
One tandem. Two seats. Zero excuses.

Stop in and give it a test ride before someone else finds their happily ever after.

Group Ride Updates - Wednesday and Thursday 5:30pm start.

The days are getting shorter, but we’re still riding!

Our Wednesday night and Thursday Women’s Night group rides are still rolling, but we’re adjusting with the daylight. Ride distances will be shorter so we can enjoy the miles and make it home before dark. We will keep running till early October.

A few things are extra important this time of year:

• Helmet-always
• Headlight-bring it
• Taillight-absolutely

Come ride and d enjoy these last weeks of summer with us.

If you came to The Recyclist during the school year, you’ve crossed paths with Vicki. We will miss seeing her smiling face this school year. It takes a lot to give your time to make sure other people’s children get to school safely.

Today we pause to recognize the life of Kaukauna crossing guard Vicki Wagner. Vicki tragically lost her life in an automobile accident earlier this summer in the City of Appleton. With school around the corner, we are reminded of Vicki’s many years of dedicated service protecting our children on their walks to and from school. Whether it was ensuring our children’s safe passage, or a simple smiling face to start the day, Vicki could always be counted on. We will never forget Vicki’s kindness and will forever hold her memory in our hearts.

We are heartbroken.

The cycling community was devastated by the news of the crash involving the Milligan Cycling team in Tennessee. Two young cyclists lost their lives, and several others were seriously injured.

This one hits especially close to home for us because two of the injured athletes are part of the Recyclist crew and our cycling family. We are incredibly grateful they are here, and our hearts are with them, their family, teammates, and everyone who is navigating the unimaginable aftermath of this tragedy.

There really aren't words for something like this. These are young people who were out doing something they love.

And please, do not use this post to debate cyclists, cycling, or who “should” be on the road. Two young people lost their lives, families are grieving, and our own community is hurting. There is no place for victim-blaming or negative comments here.

Tonight, we're holding the Milligan Cycling team, the families of those lost, the injured athletes, and our own Recyclist family very close.

Ride safe. Drive safe. Look out for each other

We are profoundly shocked and saddened to share that members of our cycling team were in an accident involving a vehicle this morning while cycling in Hampton, TN. Sophomores Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers were killed in this accident. Multiple other Milligan cyclists were also seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Johnson City Medical Center. There are no words to adequately describe this level of loss. Our prayers are with all those impacted by this tragedy. Please keep the Milligan community in your prayers.

What a whirlwind week it’s been. ❤️

In just a few days, we’ve been able to deliver more than 40 bicycles to people affected by the tornado. We have an additional 30 that will be delivered over the weekend.

These bikes are doing more than just getting people from Point A to Point B. They’re helping people whose cars were damaged get to work, giving families who have lost so much a little bit of normalcy, and hopefully bringing a little joy during an incredibly difficult time.

Running a small business is hard on a normal week. Taking on something like this in the middle of our busy season has been a whole different kind of challenge. There is absolutely no way we could have done this without the incredible generosity, time, and support of so many people.

We need to give a HUGE thank you to the people and businesses who have helped make this possible:

🚲 Shop Dog Cycles - for helping organize this entire effort, donating bikes, tuning bikes, providing parts, picking up bikes, and networking to help us find even more bicycles.

🚲 Wheel & Sprocket - for their incredibly generous donation of 10 bicycles.

🚲 Mark at Active Bike and Fitness - for providing bikes, tuning bikes, and storing bikes.

🚲 Nikki at Chain Reaction Cyclery - for donating a bicycle and serving as a drop-off point.

🚲 All of the other bike shops who have collected bicycles for this effort. Your willingness to jump in and help means so much.

🚲 Jon & Sally Lester - for delivering bicycles, tuning bikes, and providing pumps and helmets.

🚲 Taylor Bogdanske - for tuning bikes and delivering bikes.

🚲 Todd & Suzanne Meerdink - for tuning, cleaning, and delivering bicycles.

🚲 Nate Phelps & Ava Paruleski - for delivering bicycles and helping us get bikes where they need to go.

And most importantly, our community - everyone who donated a bicycle, donated money, shared our posts, connected us with someone who needed a bike, or found a way to help. You are the reason this has been possible. ❤️

This isn’t ending here. We will continue reaching out throughout the year to see who else needs a bicycle as people rebuild and figure out what comes next.

This has gotten a little overwhelming (in the very best possible way!), and we know we may have forgotten someone. If we missed you or someone who has helped along the way, please shout them out in the comments!

We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that shows up for each other.

Thank you. Truly

TORNADO BIKE UPDATE

We’ve had such an amazing response to our tornado bike donation effort, and honestly…our community is the best. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has donated bikes, shared our posts, reached out, and helped us get these bikes back on the road and into the hands of people who need them. ❤️

A few updates as we keep this moving:

1. We are still looking for teen bikes!
Our biggest need right now is functional, newer-ish, non-rusty bikes in small and medium sizes for teenagers. If you have one sitting in your garage that could help someone get to school, work, or simply get around, we’d love to give it a second life.

2. We can also use functional 24" kids bikes.
Please make sure they are functional and not rusted out.

3. We have more than enough bikes that are beyond reasonable repair.
That’s okay! We’ll make sure those bikes get distributed to local bike co-ops and other nonprofits where they can be used for parts, recycling, or other community programs.

4. If you’ve already filled out an application-we’ve got you.
We are working hard to get bikes tuned, matched, and ready for delivery. We will most likely be doing deliveries on weekends as we work through the list.

5. Please keep an eye on your text messages!
We’ll be communicating through our shop number, so this is how you’ll hear from us about your bike and delivery.

6. If you’re dropping off a donated bike:
You can leave bikes outside by the bike rack. We just ask that you please don’t leave them in front of the handicapped parking space.

And one little reminder as we work through all of this: we are still running a bicycle shop during our busiest season of the year. We are doing our very best to accommodate the needs of everyone affected while also keeping the shop running and taking care of our regular customers. We appreciate your patience as we juggle all of it, we promise we are working as quickly as we can.

Thank you. Truly.

Calling on the Recyclist crew! In the past 24 hours we have had a large amount of tornado victims contact us as their bikes were destroyed. We are in need of more bikes! If you have any functional, adult sized, bicycles that have all parts intact, that need to find their next home, we will tune them up and get them to their worthy next home.

Our inbox is flooded, so please bear with us as we sort thru all the messages daily. We will get to you, we promise. XOXO.
