The final stop of a very busy day and the inspiration for the outing. We present the Spanish Tall ship Juan Sebastian de Elcano docked at the Texas A&M Galveston marine operations dock.

She is stopped in Galveston on her way to Norfolk and New York taking part in the Sail 250 events taking place in those locations! Aubrey and I will be reuniting with the tall ship and the tall ship fleet in Norfolk for the event there in a few weeks.

The ship was beautiful and the biggest tall ship we have been on to date! We were able to interact with the crew and saw many coming on the ship after shore leave with bags of nasa souvenirs, Nike shoes, other American branded shopping bags, and … beer 😜

The day was long and we are exhausted, but it was worth it. Some info amd pics below!

From her Wikipedia - Juan Sebastián de Elcano is a training ship of the Spanish Navy. She is a steel-hulled, four-masted topsail barquentine. At 113 metres (371 ft) long, she is the third-largest tall ship in the world, and is the sailing vessel that has sailed the farthest, covering more than 2,000,000 nautical miles (3,700,000 km; 2,300,000 mi) in her lifetime. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Juan_Sebasti%C3%A1n_Elcano_remolcado_al_muelle_(14466143300).jpg

Stops 5 & 6! Last stop before we begin the actual maritime portion of today’s adventure.

The Texas surf museum
In the “cool” area of Galveston is a really well done tribute to surfing and the Galveston surf culture over its history! We stopped in to see the homage to our buddy Todd Weatherill only to remember he is in the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame not the surfing hall of Fame!! 😜. Maybe the beer led to this small error in ex*****on?

Not disappointed though because it was a really great stop and had free beer!!!

After that it was off to Hearsay an awesome little bar on The Strand (one of the classiest on the strand) for a couple of more beers and some much appreciated air conditioning before the pièce de résistance and Conclusion of the days Galveston excursion! Pics and update on the boat tour to come shortly!!!

Argh!! There be pirates! Stop 4 is the Houston areas fully stocked Pirate store! From weapons to high end costumes they have everything pirate! Aubrey and I both have outfits from here! (Mainly to wear when we watch a Pirates of the Caribbean film 😜) Always a fun stop where most likely your cashier is dressed more like a pirate than some actual pirates did! 🤷‍♂️

Two more stops (At least one with air conditioning and a beer!!) and then off to the Juan Sebastion de Elcano!

The best boat owners do not just react to problems. They plan for them.

A smart boat maintenance schedule helps you stay ahead of expensive repairs, improve reliability, protect resale value, and make budgeting much easier.

A strong plan should include:

• time-based maintenance
• usage-based maintenance
• condition-based maintenance
• system tracking by frequency
• a repair reserve of 10–20% for the unexpected

If you want fewer surprises and more confidence in your boat, proactive beats reactive every time.

How do you currently track your boat maintenance?
