American owned ...
Thank you so much for your support of our endeavor to save the dam store. As you know the dam broke several years back and has been under reconstruction ever since. Since we are the dam store having no dam has hurt the business. The previous owners decided to close the store because it was costing them money. Another employee and I asked them to let us try to save the store so they helped us to buy it. As it turned out, things didn’t go as planned and the other employee is no longer there. I am the single owner of the dam store.
After I bought the store we found out they were starting the final phase of fixing the dam. At the moment there are about 500+ workers over there working. Starting next week they are adding about 300 more people in January to the labor force of fixing the dam. My understanding is in the spring they will fill the lake one third of the way as they continue to work around the clock to repair it. We love those dam people!! Our hope is over the next 3 years they will raise it one third each year. They are trying to save the dam and I’m trying to save the dam store.
In doing so we are making many adjustments to the place. Many of you that are familiar with the Boone Store will not recognize it. Many many changes have taken place already. We now open at 6am weekdays until 8pm and we are serving breakfast and lunch. Biscuits and biscuits and gravy in the mornings and for lunch we have soups, Hotdogs, Damburgers, homemade BBQ and chicken salad sandwiches. Working on adding homemade pizza by the slice. Oh, don’t forget the Nachos. We have fountain drinks and a big ice box out front. We also have a small thrift store on the property that we use to help those in need within and without of our community. Also we have U Haul trucks for rent. Looking forward to spring as we proudly offer you a fruit and veggie stand out front that will feature locally grown fruits and veggies.
We’re looking forward to a great summer with you. We’re having t-shirts made for the dam store. We have some fishing tackle which we plan to add to our collection and we also have bait for your convenience. Worms, meal worms and minnows for when the bait shop is closed.
