The Catskill Mountain Railroad's Catskill Flyer is in operation and running on Saturdays until Memorial Day Weekend when it will run an Ice Cream Express on Sunday. The Flyer will also be running on Memorial Day. Stop and take a ride. All Aboard the CMRR!

Here's a photo of the Catskill Mountain Railroad's Crew after finishing the installation of the new section of track just West of Hurley Mountain Road. Yesterday the Catskill Flyer made its first runs of the 2026 season over the rebuild. Great Job Guys!

This past week representatives from the Catskill Mountain Railroad attended Kingston High School's Career Day. Many of our special events are staffed by our local students especially our Polar Express train ride where we hire 60+ teens to help bring the spirit of Christmas to our customers. The CMRR is proud to be one of the largest employers of local teens in Ulster County.

Today the Catskill Mountain Railroad's Track Crew did what they do best! Build Track. The track heading up the hill was worn out and the roadbed needed some fresh ballast. So out with the old and in with the new. Since 2015 the CMRR has invested over a million dollars in Ulster County's railroad besides paying rent. We deserve to stay and should be allowed to grow. All Aboard.

Yesterday morning the CMRR’s President, Ernie Hunt, called in to Kingston Community Radio to ask County Executive Jen Metzger if she would support the CMRR adding a boarding platform at Washington Avenue, west of the railroad crossing, so that the CMRR can transport bicyclists and pedestrians from the Kingston Rail Trail (O&W Connector) Trailhead west of Washington Avenue to Stony Hollow. This would allow bicyclists and pedestrians to bypass the unsafe Route 28 corridor and take a shuttle train (with a highly discounted fare) up the steep hill to Stony Hollow. The CMRR originally requested this on February, 24, 2024 but it was denied by the County on December 4, 2024.

We hope that County Executive Metzger can find this to be a proposal that she can support today, because it does not need to wait for a decision on the Undesignated Corridor. It would also be a way for the bicycle community and the CMRR to work together on a common goal.”
