❄️Winter Bike Share Update❄️

Bike it Lancaster will hibernate 25 of the pedal bikes starting today, December 10. 25 pedal bikes and 25 e-bikes will remain. If usage of the bikes slows, more of the fleet will be stored away for the winter.

Big news! 🚲⚡️ The City of Lancaster has expanded the Bike It Lancaster bike share program, bringing new options for active transportation to residents and visitors.

As part of this expansion, 25 electric bikes, or e-bikes, have joined the fleet, providing an accessible, low-effort alternative to traditional bikes. The program will also extend its service area to include neighboring Manheim Township and East Lampeter.

Since its launch in 2017, Bike It Lancaster has made it easy for users to take short trips across the city using active transit. With the Movatic app, riders can pick up a bike from any station and return it to any other station. The addition of e-bikes offers riders a faster, more convenient way to travel, especially when navigating hills or covering longer distances.

Without a membership, e-bike rentals will be $3 for 30 minutes. With a membership, e-bike rides are $1.50 for the first hour. Riders must follow all traffic laws.

The expanded bike share network now includes three stations in Manheim Township and one in East Lampeter. Users can pick up or drop off pedal bikes at stations located at Stehli Silk Mill, Stauffer Park, the Foundry Apartments and St. Joseph University.

The City of Lancaster is partnering with Lancaster Bikes & the Common Wheel to pull of the 11th annual Bike Count! 🚲✅

We're looking for a few more volunteers to help count bikes around the city. We welcome your assistance either in counting or spreading the word! Bike counts are easy to do, and a short training will be provided. The data collected helps us obtain important data about bicycling.

Data collected from these counts will be used to monitor success in increasing bicycle travel as identified in the Lancaster Active Transportation Plan while also providing critical data to support improvements to bicycle facilities.
