Hagerstown Professional Fire Fighters Local 1605 Foundation Donates $123,850 to 25 Local Charities and First-Responder Initiatives Following 2026 Bonanza Extravaganza
Signature annual fundraiser pushes the Foundation’s total community giving past $2.5 million since 2006

HAGERSTOWN, Md. August 11, 2026. The IAFF Local 1605 Foundation announced that it has donated $123,850 to 25 local charities as a direct result of the 2026 Bonanza Extravaganza. The donations bring the Foundation’s total community giving to more than $2.5 million since the Bonanza Extravaganza launched in 2006.

The Bonanza Extravaganza is an annual a two-day community tradition featuring more than $900,000 in cash and prize drawings, gaming, vendors and live music, with proceeds supporting charities and first-responder initiatives across the region.

“More than $2.5 million has now gone back into the community because people continue to show up for this event and support its mission,” said Jim Kershner, President of the IAFF Local 1605 Foundation. “That milestone belongs to the supporters, sponsors and volunteers who have made the Bonanza possible year after year. This year alone, their support is helping 25 local charities and first-responder initiatives continue the work they do for our community. That is something we are incredibly proud of.”

The Bonanza Returns in 2027
The 21st Annual Bonanza Extravaganza will return to Hagerstown Speedway on May 7 and 8, 2027. Tickets will go on sale later in 2026, with prize drawing details, the live music lineup and sponsorship opportunities to be announced in the coming months.

The East Zone champion Hagerstown PONY-14 All-Stars began play in the World Series in Washington, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Aug. 8.

Washington County and Hagerstown crews remained busy throughout July 2026.

Firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs, across Washington County and the City of Hagerstown answered 3,450 Fire and EMS calls during July 2026 an average of 111 calls every day.

Last night marked a special milestone for the Hagerstown Professional Firefighters as we swore in our first five new members in our new union building.

It was an honor to welcome our newest members into the Local in a building that will serve as a place for our membership to meet, learn, and stand together for years to come.

Multiple Major Incidents Across Washington County

Emergency personnel are currently operating at several significant incidents throughout the county:

House Fire – Garis Shop Road (10 Box Area)
Firefighters are on scene working a residential structure fire.

Propane Leak – Clear Spring (4 Box Area)
Crews are operating at the scene of an outside propane leak and working to mitigate the hazard.

Tractor Trailer Rollover – Hancock (5 Box Area) I68 Westbound at the 72 Mile Marker Emergency crews are on scene of a tractor-trailer rollover. Expect delays and use caution while traveling through the area.

Please avoid these areas if possible to allow first responders room to work safely. As always, slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles.
