Funny how moving away from Europe made me want to see more of Europe. ๐ช๐บ
I grew up in Germany and have always loved traveling. But when I lived in Europe, my trips often took me as far away as possibleโฆ different continents, completely different cultures, places that felt far from home.
And now, after 10 years of living in the US, I suddenly find myself wanting to explore Europe. Places I used to think I could always visit later when traveling far would be too strenuous ๐คญ
Rome was especially interesting for me because I studied Latin in school. I spent years translating texts about Ancient Rome and learning about places that existed thousands of years ago.
Standing inside the Colosseum and looking at the Roman Forum in real life was a great experience. Things I had only known from textbooks suddenly became real places I could actually walk through.
And then there was the Vaticanโฆ Visiting as a Catholic was a special experience.
Itโs funny how travel changes as you get older. Sometimes you spend years looking for somewhere completely new, only to realize that there are still so many places connected to your own heritage & past that you havenโt seen yet.
So, after 10 years in America, I guess Iโm finally getting around to exploring Europe. ๐๐ฎ๐น
Rome was a pretty good choice, what European destination should I put on my list next? ๐ซ๐ช๐บ
