Seven years since my last post? I guess nothing really dies on the internet, especially if you might buy some advertising.
I'm reconstituting my shop in Tennessee now and collecting ideas for further adventures. They'll likely be something around squirrels since Tennessee is the epicenter of squirrel recipes.

Been a while so I guess I better say something pithy before people think I'm dead. Pithy. I said it.

Meanwhile I've been assuming the role of unsupervised adult in a candy store, making things too numerous to keep up with and too edgy to post in public or sell on Etsy.

Got a little table saw from Harbor Freight last month and it's itching for a good work out, so challenge me!

Uh...ok. While everyone was partying over the holidays I was sweating over a hot, well no, it's not hot, just tedious, but I made a run of concrete blocks. I've got 10 pallets of 24 and 10 packages of 6 ready for the post office. Hurry! They're moving like molasses.

07/11/2017

Uh, yeah, I'm on it. Just as soon as I finish cleaning up a Harley and selling it, getting the headlights to work on the jeep and finish the paint job on the patio furniture. I promise.

Wait, what did I just promise? Oh yeah, making more of those blocks. Yup, I'm all about that. Oh, and I'm working on a new tune that might take another month but only after dark so it won't cut into my daytime activities.

Maybe I should try getting up before noon......nah.

Ok, ok, it's pert near time to fire up the factory again. The weather is cooperating but my workspace is covered with sawdust right now and I need to finish up my wood mess before I can start making my concrete mess again. Trust me, I'm on it!

But of course. Just when I started thinking it was time to set up my block factory again it rains. Maybe next week, but I promise, soon.

I know the whole world is waiting with bated breath to purchase my miniature cinder blocks. There's so many miniature trailers that need their wheels knocked off, miniature outhouses waiting to be built, model cars that need to be put up on blocks, and Barbie dolls that need to be thrown into a lake never to be seen again.

Patience, my pretties!

Facebook keeps trying to get me to post the location of my "store" when it's not a store at all. It's my shop, that's it. I make things when I'm feeling creative.

What only a few people know is that this is actually a front for a recording studio. I would have made a page for that but then I'd have to deal with a lot of strangers who have some strange misconceptions about recording studios. No, I don't work for free because you know somebody who knows somebody. Or if so and so from some record company is anxiously awaiting your demo. Sorry. Don't care. Not my problem.

And no, I don't take checks from musicians.

In other news, the sun is tantalizing me with fair weather today when I see we're supposed to have rain again tomorrow, so it's not time to crank up the block factory just yet. If climate predictions are even close to accurate I'll have more than enough hot and dry this summer to crank out a bajillion blocks which should keep my International Miniature Concrete Block Corp (ICBM on the Amex) fully stocked for a couple of years.

I'm still waiting for summer to come back before I can start making blocks again, I expect it'll be 2-3 more weeks. I haven't been idle though! I'm up to my knees in cables and computer parts, rebuilding the heart of my studio, adding video editing and production and updating the audio side to the 21st Century. And yes, it's still a Mac-free environment!

It's that time of year when I try to make blocks and it's too moist and cool (wet and cold, really) out there for the blocks to do anything but crumble after I leave them in the mold for 3 days, so I'm shutting down the production line till Feb 1 when summer comes back. Hot and dry is the key to these things.

Bummer, I know, but I have new stuff in the works for next year like the terra cotta patio tiles and some random shaped stone for pathways and decks, and block for retaining walls.

On the bright side I won't be standing in any more lines at the post office for a while. Think I'll go make something out of wood.

So here it is Christmas and I'm trapped in shipping mode. The guy at the post office knows me by name now and even offered me coffee this morning.

Thought I'd put up a few pics in case anyone thought I was slacking off this year.

This first two are new products for the shop. Terracotta patio tiles.

I got a little itchy back in August and decided to put another pond in out front. That didn't scratch it, so I put together another little water thing for the back porch and now I'm bored with water and pumps and such. And then it was winter and time to break out a hoodie and long pants.
