Yesterday, DVSC proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony for our new children’s playroom and teen room — spaces that were created with love, compassion, and purpose by the incredible Sanctuary Sisters. 💙✨
For children and teens entering shelter, the experience can feel overwhelming, unfamiliar, and frightening. Many arrive carrying fear, uncertainty, sadness, and trauma. Walking into a new environment after leaving home is never easy, especially for young people who may not fully understand what is happening around them.
But now, because of the vision and dedication of the Sanctuary Sisters, they will walk into spaces filled with warmth, comfort, creativity, and peace. From the calming colors and playful details to the books, toys, and welcoming atmosphere, every part of these rooms was designed to help children simply be children again — to feel safe, seen, and cared for. The teen room will give older youth a place where they can relax, connect, reflect, and feel a sense of normalcy during a very difficult time in their lives.
These rooms are more than just beautiful spaces. They are places of healing, hope, and restoration. The impact this will have on every child and teen who enters DVSC will be immeasurable for years to come. 🌤️🧸📚
All of the staff at DVSC want to extend our deepest gratitude to every single individual who spent countless hours planning, creating, donating, organizing, and bringing this vision to life. Your kindness and commitment will make a lasting difference in the lives of so many families.
Thank you, Sanctuary Sisters, for helping create a space where healing can begin. 💜
