First Northstar Canoes Ober to hit the water. Vids coming soon on the YT. Very pleased of this needed design after paddling it. This will be great for a lot of scenarios—Somebody that needs a whole lot of Gear, somebody with their larger dog or child, larger paddlers who feel they need more boat than the other solo models, etc..
Great flatwater tracking empty, endless secondary stability, ease of reach from the cockpit to the water!

Differential symmetry but symmetrical rocker. On a 15 degree lean the Ober becomes purely symmetrical but with the apex of the rocker 15” back of center it has great tracking when paddling flat. Extended shoulder will give lots of flare for dryness. A different but enticing feel in my opinion.
I ordered four, already sold 2 and put one in demo. Ordering more now.

For those with shorter legs, they may find these “combi” drops a nice option. If using these, you have to be a little bit more careful about footwear selection when kneeling and go low profile- I prefer neoprene socks with footwear nearby if a swim isn’t probable.

And of course, it will require a little more flexibility to kneel.

But, they are a nice choice if you want something between the sitting drops and the kneeling drops or you feel too high with the kneeling drops as Richard did. I especially love using these in my Magic just to raise my height a bit when sitting for a little more leverage on the stroke than the standard 4 inch drops allow.

Northstar doesn’t really market these because most choose either sitting or kneeling but they are available by request and we have them here in the Canoe Cathedral 😀🛶!
