Lake Michigan was putting on a SHOW at Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness! 🌊👀

Extreme wind, huge waves, and a reminder of just how powerful our Great Lakes can be!

We headed out for a fall hike through the woods and dunes, but the lake stole the show. A great way to experience this stretch of Michigan shoreline!

How have I never stopped at General Store before? 🥩👀

We asked someone at the deli counter for recommendations and left with Sweet Heat beef jerky and jalapeño cheddar brats!

There’s also a HUGE selection of summer sausage. From groceries and produce to beef jerky and hardware, this place has a little bit of everything.

I noticed quite a bit of merchandise featuring the area’s railroad history, too. That’s something I’d love to learn more about—any local history buffs want to fill us in?

Giant sequoia trees… in Michigan? 🌲👀

We made a stop at Lake Bluff Farms near Manistee to check them out. Usually, you associate these trees with California—but here they are, growing right here in Michigan!

Such a cool, unexpected find and another reason I love exploring this state.

Thanks to everyone who shared suggestions for our trip around Baldwin, Manistee, and Ludington. Between the Poppa Whoppa at Big Al’s and sequoia trees, you’ve kept this trip interesting!

Is one of Michigan’s best sandwiches hiding at Big Al's Pizza and Subs in Manistee? 👀

I read that someone had driven THREE HOURS for the Poppa Whoppa. Naturally, I had to see what that was all about.

Pepperoni, ham, salami, sausage, and mozzarella cheese. Absolutely ridiculous. It’s now one of my favorite sandwiches in Michigan! 🥪

Growing up, we always made a trip to Uncle John's C***r Mill. I still have vivid memories of watching them press fresh apple c***r. For me, it never really felt like fall until we'd made that trip!

Where's your go-to spot in Michigan for apple picking, pumpkin patches, c***r mills, fresh donuts, or just a great fall experience?
