Departed from Aspen Pitkin County Airport. Not long after reaching FL230. An onboard Garmin emergency autoland system was activated where the aircraft landed itself at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport KBJC

A robotic voice was heard over the Air Traffic Control frequency:

"Pilot incapacitation - Emergency Autoland in 19 minutes on Runway 30."

This marks the first-ever real-world emergency activation of the Garmin Autoland system since its certification. The technology is designed to take full control of the aircraft if the pilot is unable to fly. It doesn’t just fly the plane; it:

Analyzes terrain and weather.

Selects the best nearby airport.

Communicates with ATC automatically.

Lowers the gear and flaps.

Lands, brakes to a full stop, and shuts down the engines so first responders can safely approach.

Thanks to this incredible "digital co-pilot," the aircraft touched down safely at 2:19 PM. Emergency crews met the plane on the runway, and while the pilot's condition hasn't been officially updated, reports confirm the passengers walked off the plane safely.

An incredible testament to how far safety technology has come.
