This 26 year old woman created a scheme to sell handicapped placard‘s to people that were not disabled. Luckily she was caught and prosecuted. I know this is a huge issue within the disabled community. We have all experienced it in one way or another. Please understand, not every disability is visible. Some people may have heart issues and other disabilities that aren’t outwardly apparent. So please don’t assume everyone is like this woman and her ignorant customers. Have a conversation if you feel someone is abusing the system, ask a police officer to get involved, but don’t get angry towards the person as we don’t always know everyone’s situation. . .

By telling the stories of people with disabilities helps educate people without. It is the only way to help influence change. Education about disabilities is one of the most important and unfortunately overlooked problems in our society, and it affects so many people and their families. The more people that understand disabilities, the more help people with disabilities will receive both emotionally and physically. September is . Definitely a disability people need to be educated about to help others.

What a huge inspiration Jacky Hunt-Broersma is to this world and to our community! This disabled woman, a leg amputee due to cancer, decided to take up running after she beat the cancer and has now run 102 marathons in 102 days! How incredible and admirable is that?!!

This is so huge for people like us! There clearly ARE different needs that have to be met in clothing for people with disabilities and fashion has been so behind the times regarding that. It’s so nice to see different fashion houses and companies finally coming to the plate and realizing we are a huge part of the market and need to be recognized! People with disabilities, are finally, slowly but surely, getting answers met due to our strong voices! Fashion is just one facet. We must raise the volume of our voices for continued change ❤️

First stop, our hotel. Absolutely beautiful and great central location in Florence. They were great with putting a ramp out for the wheelchair to help me get in and out of the hotel. Sometimes I used my walker because it was easier.

We were so excited to leave for Florence! There were definitely some unknowns this being my first trip being disabled but I couldn’t wait to get out there traveling!!
