Corvettes of Minnesota

Corvettes of Minnesota COM was formed in 1960 by a small group of Corvette owners and enthusiasts. www.corvettesofmn.com Early events included rallies and autocrosses. Paul.

From the beginning, the only requirement for member has been an enthusiastic interest in Corvettes. Most COM members are current or former Corvette owners. The 1970's and 1980's saw the club grow to well over one hundred members. Many became active racing drivers and track staff at Brainerd International Raceway. Former COM member Jerry Hansen captured a record 27 national SCCA Championships, as w

ell as being a top runner in the Trans Am, Can Am, and Continental Series. At one point four COM members were driving in the Trans-Am Series. COM began a long-time relationship with the Minnesota Air National Guard in 1973, putting on the largest autocross in the Twin Cities for many years until the 9/11 events and national security concerns ended access to the Twin Cities Airport location. During this period COM sponsored many autocross, rally, and concours events. The 1990's and 2000's have seen COM membership stable at about fifty members, including some who have been with the club since the opening years. Current events include Met Council and NCCC autocross events, the all-GM car show held every June at the State Fairgrounds, an NCCC Rally late in the summer, and social events such as a holiday party, annual banquet, and participation with other Corvette clubs in a winter Chili Challenge. Many members also participate in a variety of autocross, rally, concours or car shows, and Corvette Cruise events throughout the Midwest, and attend races at Brainerd, Road America, and other tracks across the country. Corvettes currently owned by members range from the C1 to the latest C6, and all series in between. Corvettes of Minnesota has been a member of the Metropolitan Council of Sports Car Clubs since the early days of the organization, and of the National Council of Corvette Clubs for over twenty years. NCCC offers well over a hundred events in the Minnesota-Wisconsin-Illinois Midwest Region. Two COM members have earned the annual top competition points award out of over 2000 Region members, and many have earned championships in Regional and National NCCC events. COM contributes each year to the Minnesota Parkinson Foundation, and NCCC raises funds nationally for the National Kidney Foundation. COM meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month (other than January) at 8:00 pm at Casa Vieja, 2176 West 7th Street, in St. If this sounds like a club you'd be interested in, please join us for a meeting, or contact one of the officers.

I am late to post a few club items of note: ONE our President of 26 years; Bill Hoxmeier stepped down. He was extremely active in NCCC competition in the MWR and ran the entire series, every race for 12 years! I had the honor of trying to keep up with him but could only make 80% of the races in a given year. He was a great leader / president and racer.

TWO: our club treasurer for over 53 years!!! George Hawn, who originally joined COM in 1962 just succumbed to cancer after a 5 year battle... He will be greatly missed and was a very dear friend...

The club website has a blog article on George accepting a 50 year super thanks from the club and I will be putting up a remembrance on our 'In Memoriam' page soon...

Corvettes of MN had a fabulous Fall Cruise on Oct. 18th 2025. With over 25 cars and 160 mile cruise thru southern MN and WI, we saw Fall colors, a Porsche Cruise, a Mopar Cruise, a Camero Cruise and more. See our Events Gallery Page of our website for a slide show of the day.

These are a collection of past events and photos. We try to post these after each event.

As promised, here's a reminder of our COM Fall Cruise. Temperatures will likely be cooler than this past week, but I'm hopeful for more color in the leaves a week from now. With luck, we'll have clear skies, filled with Bald Eagles and colorful leaves.

The Corvettes of Minnesota Fall Cruise will be on Saturday, October 18 this year. I've done the route twice in the past month, and I think you'll find it very enjoyable. At 160 miles, and 4 hours, it's a little longer than most of our Cruises, but I think you'll agree it's worth the extra miles and time. Flyers are in the Spring/Summer Checkered Flag, and on the corvettesofmn.com website (under "Events").
