We have set out to solve some of the more challenging issues throughout the music industry. Musicians are at the mercy of labels to provide funding and distribution. This has created a system of gatekeepers and power concentration which puts the creative and cultural freedom of artists at risk. We want to give artists an alternative source of income so that they can regain agency and sustainably f
ocus on their craft. We are attempting to fix this broken industry by giving fans a financial incentive to pay for music and content. On TempoTrader, musicians sell what we call "Tempos" to fans. Tempos grant fans access to private music that the artist posts. Fans can sell the Tempos they own to other fans at any point, creating a marketplace where Tempo prices fluctuate depending on demand. Fans the can earn profits by buying Tempos and selling them after they gain value. Musicians raise money by selling Tempos, and they get paid a commission every time their Tempos are traded between fans. We think giving fans an incentive to pay for content in invest in artists will contribute to a culture that values art more. Meanwhile, musicians will have access to a new source of income on top of whatever they make now selling music, merchandise, and touring.
