I had a conversation with a friend the other day about Travel Agents. So I thought maybe I should post this so that I can give you a bit of insight on Travel Agents.

Using a Travel Agent does not mean they are marking up your price to get their commission from you. When an individual books their trip or when the Travel Agent books it, the commission is already built into the price. Regardless who books it. Even with the online booking the commission is already built into that price.

Who gets better prices? Sometimes the individual booker will and sometimes the Travel Agent will. When a Travel Agent uses the same company for their bookings, Agents they tend to get better prices because of the history of sales that the Agent provides to them and sometimes the price matches.

For instance, what I love about Carnival Cruise Line and Disney is that they have it set up that the prices are the same for individual or Agent. NO ONE can beat each others price. So with that being said it is your choice to say who gets the commission, will it be Carnival or Disney? Or the Agent? Who do you want it to go to, because someone is getting it.

When dealing with those bookings as an individual and a problem occurs you are dealing with call this number and then they refer you to call another number and your dealing with for awhile trying to fix it.

The advantage of having a Travel Agent is if you have a problem you make one call and the agent takes care of that for you and resolves it a lot faster than an individual can because we have direct numbers that you don't. Amongst other things an Agent can do for you.

So if you know someone who is a Travel Agent why not give them the chance to price it for you, no one says you have to book with them but give them the opportunity to price it. You have nothing to lose but a few minutes of your time! I am not saying this just for me I am saying it for all Travel Agents.

This is just a little insight so that you know that Travel Agents do not mark up their prices on your trips regardless that a lot of people think that it happens it doesn't. All commissions are built in the price already. With an Agent you get personal service!!
