Being a native San Diegan, I’ve always been drawn to the designs of Bob Simmons and the long fish shapes refined by Skip Frye. There’s something about the speed, flow, and simplicity of these boards that has always stuck with me.

Simmons’ approach to planing hulls and twin keel setups changed everything, and Frye carried that forward in a way that fits our local waves perfectly. That balance of speed and control is what I keep chasing in my own shaping.

I’m constantly refining my shaping, especially when it comes to fin placement and fin design. Small adjustments can completely change how a board feels under your feet, and that process of tweaking and improving is what keeps it interesting. Every board is another step toward dialing in that blend of glide, drive, and responsiveness.
