Check out what we just bought....a Progressive Aerodyne Searey! Powered by a 100hp Rotax, this little guy is amphibious which means tons of fun. If it looks new, that's because it is. The owner did a great job building it, but unfortunately due to some back surgeries wasn't able to complete the flight testing. We bought the airplane with only 33 hours on it! Dennis flew it home yesterday and is looking forward to finishing the flight test program, including using his commercial seaplane rating.

Holy cow we've been busy this summer! So busy in fact we forgot to update you all on facebook, So here's a quick recap:

1. We bought a Mooney! A neat little 1977 M20J out of Michigan. Trucking a Mooney is an adventure. The wing is one piece so you need a loooong trailer. This airplane has a fresh overhauled engine, fresh overhauled prop, and will soon have a brand new paint job.
2. The R182 is done and sold. In fact it's going back to near where we got it from in Missouri. This one was hard to let go with that incredible avionics package.
3. We got to work on this incredible 4 place Super Cub. The owner wanted it put on floats for the first time, which involved a lot of custom fabrication, but it sure was cool! This airplane is now for sale.
4. Speaking of for sale, our '56 G35 Bonanza is for sale again also. The gentlemen we sold it too loved the plane, but had some health issues and asked us to move it to a new home for him. This airplane is so much fun to fly!
5. Working on airplanes is full contact sport, as you can see by the dent on Dennis' head.
6. Of course we were at EAA Airventure all week. What a show! Catching up with customers, vendors, meeting new people, and seeing all the airplanes.
7. And finally, big congratulations to our local EAA Ray Scholar Erik Kosch, who earned his Private Pilots License only days before heading off to the US Merchant Marine Academy. We were honored to mentor him throughout the process.

And our 182 is flying! Now we are working out all the minor squawks and breaking in the engine. That fresh Western Skyways overhauled O-540 sure is smooth.

Progress on the 182RG continues. We got the new lower cowl riveted on and painted, and just in the nick of time because today we got a special present: our freshly overhauled engine from Western Skyways! So shiny.....

We had a ton of fun with it, but it's time for our little RV-12 to go to it's new home. Jacob "Smoke" Sloan left yesterday morning with N199CH on a long trip to New Orleans where it will be based. Smoke is a F-15 pilot for the US Air Force! He plans to use the RV-12 to build time and have a little fun in his very own airplane.

Dennis took a break from the shop this week and flew down to Atlanta for the Verticon helicopter show. Apparently he got some good IFR practice along the way, "I didn't see the ground from Milwaukee all the way to Atlanta!", but it sure beats flying the airlines. While there he ran into old friends, made new ones, and met with potential clients for our sister business, M Star Aerospace.

Temps in the 70's....dozens of helicopters....it's a miracle he came back!

Our RV-12 is officially done! This is a fun flying little airplane, with great avionics and an awesome autopilot. Vans really hit it out of the park with this one. Don't know why schools would train in cramped and busted up old Cessna 150's and 172's or Piper Cherokees when you can have one of these new, modern, and comfortable trainers. As fun as it is, though, it has to go to make room for the next project!

No posts for a while because we've been busy! On top of 3 annuals in the month of January, we also finished all repair work on the RV12. It's currently in paint. And we bought another airplane! Check out our beautiful new 182RG. Big thanks to Glen Berna and Jeff Batzer for helping us retrieve it from Southern Missouri.

It's a plane again! Well...sort of. We've made great progress putting the RV-12 back together. We are waiting on a few parts from Vans and then we can push this one over the finish line, which is good because our newest project should arrive in only a few weeks. Happy New Year Everyone!
