Yes, yes and yes!

A clean and organized home is not the result of occasional deep cleaning. It comes from small, consistent habits practiced every day.

The difference between a cluttered space and a calm one often comes down to simple routines that take only a few minutes but create lasting impact.

Start your day with a quick reset. Making the bed, clearing surfaces, and letting fresh air in instantly sets the tone. It creates a sense of order before the day even begins.

Throughout the day, follow one powerful rule: do not put things down, put them away. When every item has a designated place, clutter has no chance to build up.

Laundry is another area where consistency matters. Instead of letting it pile up, doing one small load each day keeps it manageable. Folding and putting clothes away within 24 hours prevents that overwhelming backlog most people dread.

Evenings are just as important. Taking a few minutes to reset your kitchen, clean dishes, wipe counters, and empty the sink helps you wake up to a fresh start. A short nightly tidy in your living space can make a big difference as well. Returning items to their place and clearing surfaces keeps mess from accumulating.

Adopting a one in, one out mindset is key to maintaining balance. Bringing something new into your home should mean letting something go. This simple habit prevents overcrowding and keeps your space intentional.

Instead of exhausting cleaning days, break tasks into smaller parts throughout the week. Focus on one area at a time for just a few minutes. This approach makes maintenance feel easier and more sustainable.

Finally, keep visible surfaces minimal and use containers to organize your belongings. Bins, trays, and baskets create structure and make everything easier to find. Keeping a donation box nearby also encourages regular de-cluttering.

A well organized home is not about perfection. It is about creating systems that support your daily life. When your space is in order, your mind feels clearer, your stress is lower, and your home becomes a place of calm instead of chaos.

Stuck inside because of the weather? You know that room you’ve been avoiding because it’s disorganized and has a lot of stuff you’re not using?

Someday you’ll need my help to downsize and get ready to move, but not today. You can do something that will make you feel a lot better.
1. Go in that room. Don’t walk out.
2. Get a box and put all the related things that you can fit in it. I.e. knitting supplies, seasonal decorations, family memorabilia (photos, programs, keepsakes).
3. Close it and label it.
4. Leave there—for now—until the next time you come in and make another box.
5. Eventually those boxes will tell you where they’re supposed to be. Donation center, MarketPlace, trash or in the garage with other boxes you’ll take with you to your next place.

Good luck, you can do this!
