I was doing some HR paperwork today and I had a realization. I achieved a goal and I didn't realize it. An important goal. How could I have not realized this earlier? I am proud to say that every one of my drivers is a Veteran. From Vietnam to Afghanistan. Every branch of the Armed Forces, represented. Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts and Service Medals!

We have always been veteran-centric but for our ranks to be purely comprised of America's finest took me back to when I first started this company. I had full intention of going out of my way to surround myself with Veterans but it wasn't as easy to do as I had planned. In my arrogance or ignorance, I didn't fully appreciate the severity of the driver shortage and I struggled finding the right folks and it hindered growth. Nonetheless, I stuck with my hiring strategy and it paid off. I work with the finest group of drivers I've ever had the privilege of working with and I thankful.

I know as a small company this isn't a huge feat especially since it is part of our brand and hiring strategy but it is still a great moment in time and I share this to bring awareness. If you ever have the chance to hire a Veteran ... do it!

So I ran an ad on FB offering Joe Biden a job at GAF as a regional truck driver ... my ad was rejected just like my previous posts about BIG Rig Joe. I figured the job offer was a win-win. I'm always looking for find drivers and Joe doesn't seem to be doing well in his current role. I'll keep the offer on the table in case he needs a job.

Dear President Biden,

I am here to inform you that you just RODE in a truck 50 years ago. That's not driving. That sir, is done by professionals. We do not take kindly to lies that concern our business. By you stating you DROVE a truck paints a picture that anybody can drive a truck and that is far from the truth. So in summary, don't speak of our industry ever again. Keep the words trucking out of your mouth. You and your party are hurting our industry enough. The last thing we need is you spewing falsehoods.

Second, you need to understand this company was based on a philosophy that our drivers matter. We work WITH drivers to come up with win-win scenarios every day. This company's greatest strength is our ability to communicate with each other. We use our wealth of diverse experience to work smarter every day. It also helps that we all really enjoy what we do here at GAF.
What do GAF drivers say (actual quotes)!

So, what are we looking for?
- Professional drivers (key word Professional).
- Drivers with initiative!
- Understand how to do a proper pre-trip.
- Understand the basics of how a truck works.
- Van and Flatbed experience would be nice.
- Need a few years’ experience under your belt.
- Would be great if you lived in Central NC.
- Wouldn't be a bad thing if you lived in SE PA.
What GAF offers:
- Up to $90k per year.
- Weekly pay based on miles driven (real miles).
- Detention pay that is legitimate.
- Bonuses that are actual attainable.
- Flexible benefits to meet YOUR needs.
Typical week would be Monday through Friday running OTR anywhere from PA to TX. 3 to 4 deliveries each week. You will average 2500 to 3000 miles per week.
