🚨 Sobriety Checkpoint Planned in Rapides Parish for Holiday Weekend 🚔
RAPIDES PARISH, La. (7/2/2026) — As thousands of people prepare to celebrate Independence Day, law enforcement hopes every family has the opportunity to make it home safely. With that goal in mind, Louisiana State Police Troop E, the Alexandria Police Department, and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, July 3, in Rapides Parish, weather and traffic conditions permitting.
The checkpoint is designed to identify and remove impaired drivers before they can cause crashes that lead to serious injuries or loss of life. Officials say visible enforcement also serves as a reminder to make responsible decisions before getting behind the wheel.
Authorities encourage anyone planning to drink to designate a sober driver, arrange a ride, or use a rideshare service.
One impaired driving crash can change lives forever. A single decision can leave families grieving, victims facing lifelong injuries, and first responders responding to a tragedy that could have been prevented. Planning ahead takes only a few minutes but can make all the difference.
Anyone who observes an aggressive or suspected impaired driver is encouraged to call *LSP (*577) from a cellular phone or contact their local law enforcement agency.
