In the Arctic, no two expeditions are ever the same.

As Expedition Leader Mike Scotting explains, conditions change overnight, wildlife moves without warning, and plans adjust as the day unfolds.

The private-island race is officially ON — and cruise lines are going BIG.

For a long time, Royal Caribbean’s **Perfect Day at CocoCay** has been the poster child for turning a private island stop into an attraction all its own.

Disney Cruise Line has **Castaway Cay** and the newer **Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point**, offering a very different take with beautiful beaches, family activities, adult-only areas and that signature Disney experience.

And now Norwegian Cruise Line is seriously stepping up its game.

NCL has officially opened **Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay**, adding a nearly 6-acre waterpark with:

•19 waterslides
•An approximately 800-foot dynamic river
•Water coasters
•Cliff jumps
•Kids’ splash and play areas
•Cabanas and plenty of island time

It’s part of a much bigger transformation happening at Great Stirrup Cay, and it makes comparing cruise lines even more interesting.

Because choosing a cruise isn’t just about the ship anymore.

**Royal Caribbean:** High-energy resort + waterpark experience **Disney:** Beach day + family experience + Disney touches
**Norwegian:** A growing mix of beach relaxation + big waterpark fun

And this is exactly why I don't think there’s one “best” cruise line. The better question is: which cruise line has the experience that fits YOUR vacation style?

So I’m curious…
How much does the private-island experience influence which cruise line you choose???

Would you pick your cruise specifically for Perfect Day, Castaway Cay/Lookout Cay or Great Stirrup Cay?

Seeing wildlife is one thing. Experiencing it on nature’s terms is another. In The Galápagos, distance fades, moments slow, and encounters feel intimate—unfolding naturally rather than observed from afar.

Not all 4-night Disney cruises are created equal.

Two sailings can be the exact same length and still give you a VERY different vacation.

One 4-night itinerary might include:
• Nassau
• One Disney island destination
• One day at sea

Another might give you:
• Disney Castaway Cay
• Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
• One day at sea

Same four nights. Completely different experience.

And on such a short cruise, that matters.

If beach days are one of your favorite parts of sailing Disney, I’d be paying close attention to the itineraries that include **both Disney island destinations**. You get more Disney-specific experiences packed into a shorter trip — and you may be able to skip Nassau entirely.

That doesn’t mean the Nassau itinerary is “bad.” If you want to visit Atlantis, explore Nassau, or the price and ship work better for you, it can still be the right choice.

The point is: **don’t book a cruise based on the number of nights alone. Check the ports.**

That little itinerary detail can completely change how your vacation feels.

👇 Which would you rather have on a 4-night cruise?

🏝️ Castaway Cay + Lookout Cay
or
🇧🇸 Nassau + one Disney island day?

THREE Disney island days on a 6-night cruise?!

Yep — there are a few sailings in Disney Cruise Line’s new release that are especially interesting if your favorite part of a Disney cruise is the beach days.

These itineraries visit both Disney Castaway Cay AND Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, AND then return to one of them for a second visit.

The three I’m watching:

Disney Dream — November 22, 2027
Two Castaway Cay days + one Lookout Cay day

Disney Fantasy — January 2, 2028**
Two Lookout Cay days + one Castaway Cay day

Disney Treasure — January 9, 2028
Two Castaway Cay days + one Lookout Cay day

For anyone who would happily trade a port-heavy cruise for more time on Disney’s island destinations, these are some of the standout itineraries in the new release.

Swipe through the carousel to compare all three and see which one fits your travel style best.

Which would you choose — Dream, Fantasy or Treasure?

Comment “ISLAND” if you want help comparing the dates, ships and stateroom options.

So… which Disney Wish sailing from New York is actually the best one?

There are only 7 Disney Wish departures from NYC in Fall 2027, but they’re surprisingly different from one another.

Some are all about Bermuda.
Some lean into Canada & New England.
One mixes Bermuda with Halifax.
And one is a completely different kind of trip, sailing one-way from New York to San Juan*.

A few that really stand out:

•For the most Bermuda time:
October 14 or October 19 — both give you extended time at King’s Wharf.

•For the most port variety:
October 24 — a 7-night sailing visiting Charlottetown, Sydney and Halifax.

•For a shorter getaway:
September 29 — a 4-night Bermuda cruise.

•For something completely different:
October 31 — New York → Bermuda → San Juan, which could be amazing if you want to add a few days in Puerto Rico afterward.

And if you can’t decide between warm-weather Bermuda and fall in Canada, the October 8 sailing combines Bermuda + Halifax.

That’s why I always say the itinerary matters just as much as the ship. Two cruises on the same Disney Wish can feel like completely different vacations depending on the route.

Swipe through the carousel for the full breakdown of all 7 NYC sailings.

Which would you pick: Bermuda, Canada & New England, or the one-way sailing to San Juan?
