Ok, first thing first! THE HOODS ARE IN!! Just got back from the farmers market and we got a half flat which will be eaten in no time. Think I need to get some shortbread and make some whipped cream.

Second, I want to support some friends of my son who are at LO’s Young Entrepreneur booths at the farmers market and putting their art out there. So proud of you guys - I know that can be scary! Keep up the good work. We have a small neighbor with a birthday coming up and I got this adorable bracelet from and a little dish for her to keep her treasures in from .waxman.

It took a bit to finish with all of my school work and life, but they are finished in time for graduation! My kid already grabbed his, which I take as a good sign that he like it. 😊

Each stripe is a color the kiddo picked for themselves and then I designed buttons using the stripe color for their names and put them through the button maker.

I wove these on my loom (on 2 shafts) using 8/4 cotton from .

Congratulations to all of the 2026 graduates! We are so proud of you all!

“How long does it take to weave this?” This is the most common question I get and my response is simply “well that requires a very complicated answer!” And it does. Which part of weaving do you want to know about? Designing the piece and all of the planning? Ordering the yarns? Winding the warp? Dressing the loom? Just the act of weaving the thing? The whole kit and kaboodle?

I am currently designing a new brocade honoring one of fish species that swims in Oregon Rivers (thinking about adding some others to this piece as well). My first fish is the Rainbow Trout and this design is quite complicated when it comes to the color placement. Before I start the computer design process I am mapping out where each color will go and then creating color maps (broken out by color) to put in the design software. So far I am 5 hours in, but who doesn’t love a bit of coloring!

Fun fact: “Rainbow Connection has always been a favorite song of mine and today I am wondering if it might be why I love rainbows so much. It is at least one of the reasons!

silks being used for this piece and it will be woven on my Megado loom.

Being an introvert getting out in the world and trying to be an extrovert can be pretty tiring, but as a fiber artist getting out in the world brings joys I never thought possible. Like when people come to your little shop/ booth and share something about themselves that relates to what you have made. These two people shared with me that they had tattoos that matched some of my creations and that brought such joy to me. We are all sharing parts of ourselves when we connect over conversations. This is part of community building and it is one reason I lGathering Of The Guilds Showspdx so much. I am always so grateful to take part and feel that community and all of the good vibes. I am so grateful to everyone who stopped by and shared a piece of yourself with me even though I didn’t get a photo. I am so appreciative of you all.

I am also so appreciative to my family for helping set up, run, and tear down my booth. Most people don’t see the support system behind the artist, but it is there and I am so lucky mine is so strong. Couldn’t do it without you all. Thank you to all of my friends fromportlandhandweaversguildd and the for being awesome and supportive aisle mates. And thank you to the support from my friendPneuma Glasss - loved seeing you at the show!

My next in person show will be in November with the Portland Handweavers (13-14 NovemberMultnomah Arts Center Associationx) and that will probably be my last show for a year. I am planning to graduate from my BFA program next Spring and GOTG might be too much at that time with projects and different things coming due. I will keep you posted on any upcoming events, so stay tuned! Look for me there in 2028 though!

One last massive thank you. My heart is so full.

Just wanted to share a little weaver joy with you all. Yesterday I got a box of magic from . These yarns don’t know it yet but I have big plans for them! Look at those colors everyone! I hope it makes your heart as happy as it does mine!

I am still in the designing phase of 2 different brocades which is good because I have a school project that needs to go on the loom next and that is the priority right now.

I have a kiddo graduating this spring and I can‘t even with it all. I swear he was only born last week! I wanted to do something special for him and his friend group and I came up with the idea of doing special bands they can wear with their caps and gowns. Each kid told me which color they wanted and each stripe represents one of them. I think I might need to embellish them with a little something more, but I am loving the way these are coming out so far. I am not sure if it is saving me time weaving 2 at a time or not, but it looks pretty cool!

When you shop for toothpaste at Costco! 🤣

I am currently in the throes of the last week of classes and finishing my big projects for the term so I haven’t been at my looms as much. Here is something I thought you might all find a little humor in though!

This is part of my little “exhibit” for my Intro to Sculpture class critique next week. My plaster sculpture is the toothpaste cap, the wooden sculptures are the toothbrushes and I added a giant fabric toothpaste sculpture to go with it all. Everything is 10x the size of the everyday items.

That picture of the plaster cap was my first casting and I made adjustments to the mold so things wouldn’t break off as much and it would look cleaner. Subsequent castings are better but I didn’t have photos of them.

I imagine I am going to get some strange looks as I walk through campus to my classroom with this. 🤣 Life of an art student!
