The City of Readlyn is currently accepting sealed bids for the sale of the following:
• Vehicle: 2004 Sterling Acterra Dump Truck
• Mileage: 64,737 miles
• Engine: 8.3L Cummins Diesel
• Transmission: Allison Automatic
• Equipment: Included 10' Henderson snowplow

Inspection and Inquiries: For questions regarding the vehicle or to arrange an inspection, please contact Barney Wiersma at 319-239-0250.

Submission Requirements: Bids must be submitted in a sealed, clearly marked envelope labeled "Sealed Bid: Dump Truck". Bids must be received no later than 10:00 AM on Monday, November 9, 2026, at the following address:

Bid Opening and Award Process:
• Opening: Sealed bids will be publicly opened at 10:00 AM on Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, at Readlyn City Hall.
• Review: The bids will be formally presented to the City Council for review during the regular council meeting at 6:00 PM on the same day.
• City Rights: The City of Readlyn reserves the right to refuse any or all bids, waive informalities in the bidding process, and accept the bid deemed to be in the best interest of the City.

Terms of Sale: The successful bidder must make payment in full before the vehicle can be removed from City property. The vehicle must be paid for and completely removed from the premises prior to December 1, 2026.

UPDATE: During a joint ex*****on of a search warrant between Readlyn PD, Denver PD, Janesville PD, and Iowa Highway Patrol on 9-27-26, we were successful in arresting the two subjects that were responsible for our vehicle burglaries in Readlyn on 9-18-26, as well as these other communities on different dates. I charged each of them with burglary 3rd degree & theft 4th degree. They are currently in the Bremer County Jail. This doesn't mean you can stop locking your vehicles again!
Others can come to our community and do the same thing tomorrow.
Eventually it will happen again.
