It took me a long time to come to grips with the fact that I had suddenly joined the club I never wanted to be part of -- The Bereaved Mother's Club. Here it is ten years later. I've finally begun to smile, but there is still an empty place in my heart that nobody can fill except my son. With the holidays approaching, I know that many need additional support for the next few weeks. How can I help you? More personal videos and sharing of how I survived? Will that help? Today my heart is heavy, and I come before God in prayer for Charlie Kirk, his wife Erika, their young children, and all who loved him. 

We live in dangerous times when violence cuts short lives, when respect, civility, and love seem to be overshadowed by fear and hate. But I believe that even in tragedy, shine the light of truth and compassion.

Lord, we pray:
• Comfort the Kirk family, and give them strength in this unimaginable loss.
• Calm our nation’s hearts that are hurting, fearful, and divided.
• Remind us that every human life is sacred, every voice matters, and every person deserves dignity — regardless of where they stand.
• Help us reject anger, violence, and vengeance, and instead pursue peace, understanding, and justice.

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” — but also: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 10:34 & Matthew 5:9)

May God be our refuge, may He bring true healing, and may His love and mercy guide us out of dark places.
