Not all shipping containers are created equal.
One of the most common questions we get is, “What's the difference between a used container, a one-trip container, and a multi-trip container?"
Here's a simple breakdown:
🔹 Used Container
These containers have spent years in service crossing oceans. They'll show dents, scratches, surface rust, and other signs of wear, but they're still wind and watertight and make a great budget-friendly option for storage.
🔹 One-Trip Container
These containers are built overseas, loaded with a single shipment to the U.S., and then sold. They look nearly new, have very little wear, and are the best choice if appearance matters or you're planning to convert the container into a workshop, office, or tiny home.
🔹 Multi-Trip Container
Think of this as the middle ground. These containers have made more than one trip but are still in excellent condition. They'll have a little more cosmetic wear than a one-trip container but are typically cleaner and newer than a standard used container—often at a lower price than a one-trip.
No matter which option you choose, the best container depends on your budget and how you plan to use it.
