Brake safety week is scheduled for august 23 to 29 across north america and here is what drivers need to know

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has announced its annual Brake Safety Week, taking place from August 23 to 29 across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Law enforcement officers will conduct routine commercial vehicle inspections throughout the week, placing any rigs with critical brake violations immediately out of service.

Inspectors will place extra focus on brake drums and rotors this year, checking for cracks, excessive wear, or damaged components that compromise stopping power.

During last year's event, officers inspected over 15,000 commercial vehicles and removed nearly 2,300 off the road due to brake-related infractions.

Drivers and motor carriers are urged to complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections now to ensure all braking components are fully compliant before hitting the road.
