Off-roading can be an art & a science but mostly it’s a lifestyle. I’ve been playing in the dirt since I was a kid growing up in Ohio & Indiana. My brother & I grew up riding motorcycles since age 5 or 6 and off-road exploring with our Dad since he had a Manx style dune buggy. That’s how we got our start…..how about you?

We’ve been exploring the wilds of Baja for 41 years where there is freedom to do so. What’s down that dirt road? We go find out.

We did this long before cell phones or any mapping apps were created. Yup…we used paper maps, memorized trails & had a blast. Still luv paper maps & use them when off grid. I prefer being off grid.

So Get out there & go off road exploring on existing trails in the US while we still can. Our public lands are at risk.

Life on a Baja Rancho 🤠🐎🌲

Out here, “off the grid” isn’t a lifestyle trend—it’s just Tuesday.

Our guided overlanding trips take you deep into Baja, where private working ranchos sit tucked into pine forests and mountains, far from the pavement, Wi-Fi, and anyone asking, “So… what’s the plan?”

🤠The answer is usually: follow the dirt road.

These ranchos are real working farms and family businesses. Locals make their living raising cattle, horses, goats and other animals, growing food, and welcoming travelers who want to experience a side of Baja most people never see. The food is amazing.

You’ll find cowboys on horseback, gringos camping under the stars, overlanding rigs covered in dust, mountain air, pine trees—and probably a rancho dogs who immediately decide your campsite is their campsite. 😂

We’re proud to bring guests to these remote places respectfully and support the families who make a living here. It’s not just a destination—it’s their home, their livelihood, and a pretty incredible way of life.

Come for the adventure. Stay for the ranchos. Leave with dirt in places you didn’t know could collect dirt.

Baja is calling. We know the dirt roads. 🇲🇽

Curious non travelers always ask us…..

What do you do in Baja for fun?

Well we finally got to with our Toyotas in Baja amigos to checkout this cool bat cave in northern Baja. We had heard the rumors about it for years. It true that the cave opens up to the Pacific Ocean.

Is there really a bat cave in Baja? Yes/Si

Do we have to crawl into it? Yes/Si

Is the road really rough to get there? Yes-4Wheel low in several places. Low & slow.

Was it creepy & did you see bats? You will need to go there & discover this for yourself.

But did we die? No

Would we go there again? Absolutely!

Recently we traveled to a Eréndira, a small town in northern Baja. Population about 2000 people. This was a baseball, & giving back to the community day. We all brought school supplies & backpacks for the kids.

My FAVorite part was the process of giving bicycles to kids. Local families had to be on the bike list in advance to get a bike. The awesome Bikes for Baja team fixes or sets up each bike for each person by weight, height, age, etc. Very organized!

Bikes for Baja Mission: To donate bicycles to as many underprivileged families in impoverished towns across Baja.

If you have a bicycle to donate, please let me know & we will come pick it up. The next event is in October. The bikes are taken one by one into Baja & stored there until we can transport them all together to an event. It’s a process with volunteers helping everywhere.

That’s a wrap.

The Big Thing in Montana was epic. It’s a community gathering of overlanders & industry vendors. It’s smaller so more time to slow down & make connections. So glad we got to attend. I enjoyed the classes & met some inspiring travelers.

The extreme temps pushing 100 were challenging & we all tried to stay in the shade or under the misters at the Hub building. The fun stuff…
