Well, this is unfortunate. Looks like significant layoffs by Searles Valley Minerals in Trona. Word is that the Argus plant will be shut down and operations scaled back at the Trona plant. Something on the order of 350 jobs are expected to be lost. This will have a devastating impact on the community.

Three miners trapped with a rescue operation underway at Newmont's Red Chris Mine in B.C. Canada. Hoping for a successful conclusion.

According to Premier David Eby, the three miners were working in B.C.'s Red Chris copper and gold mine when the accident took place.

A good video on subsidence issues from abandoned coal mines by Practical Engineering. Hard rock mines can have issues like this as well. Butte Montana is fighting a constant battle against subsidence and sinkholes from their abandoned and flooded copper mines.
