Sad news (again). Larry Hoffman has passed away. Larry was a great guy and passionate about mining. He's going to be missed.

Here are pictures from our visit to the New Pass Mine in 2016 (and the places we visited on the way). We spent several days with Don and had a great time hearing his stories, blasting and even driving an Eimco 911 LHD.

Sad news. Most of the structures at the New Pass Mine in Nevada have burned down in a wildfire. Only the modern house was saved. There were two historic mills at the site along with numerous other buildings filled with historic artifacts from decades of mining and use by Don and Kathy Jung.

Very sad. Our condolences to Brian Cameli's family and coworkers. Another grim reminder that mining is dangerous.

A 37-year-old man died early Thursday in an industrial accident at Rio Tinto Kennecott.

Well, this is unfortunate. Looks like significant layoffs by Searles Valley Minerals in Trona. Word is that the Argus plant will be shut down and operations scaled back at the Trona plant. Something on the order of 350 jobs are expected to be lost. This will have a devastating impact on the community.
