EVOLUTIONARY ASTROLOGY with SCOTT WOLFRAM:

Early in 2011, I saw a post from an American Astrologer living in Munich Germany. He is an ex-patriot who, with his gracious wife, love Bavaria so much that they moved there as permanent residents. As soon as we met in his lovely apartment in Munich, I knew that we were kindred spirits. He loves the same villages that I love and he mentioned a favorite hotel in Partenkirchen, Drei Mohren! This was a hotel that I fell in love with and decided that I would stay there in 2012! He advised me to visit a small town, Herrsching, on the Ammersee. He suggested that I hike to the monastery, Andechs. This I did – taking the long trail – and it was a wonderful experience for me. The last climb to the monastery was on a very, very steep (and long) walkway. I would pant as hikers would walk past me (they only came from the parking lot nearby). When I reached the top, the tourists applauded to my accomplishment.

Scott is a practitioner of Evolutionary Astrology with a focus on the journey of the soul and the role of myth on this journey via the minor asteroids.

Scott has observed that the Minor Asteroids reveal great insights about the individual. He uses location asteroids – like asteroids named for places. The Trojan War asteroids have a strong connection with family dynamics. That is, he suggests using asteroids to help clean up old family energies. Asteroids are like minor personality characteristics that fill in the mythic part of our life story. These asteroids tell the mythic journey of the soul. Locational astrology is also used in terms of the soul’s evolution. These show: Why are we here and where the journey is supported.

Scott suggests using 4th House energies to transform inner life and to liberate self from the past. Evolutionary astrology helps to explain the practical side of understanding the journey from life to life.

Minor asteroids that are prominent in a chart help us to determine which way the artchetype of a particular House or Planet will manifest. The asteroid Echo is associated with the family voice. Echo is associated with speaking of things that hide the truth (verbal role playing), condemning us to only repeat what others have said. There maybe something about you that is not heard by others.

What we both have observed is that planets in the 4th House denote one who is attempting to break and ancestral chain or pattern. I have observed that planets in the 4th, even Jupiter and Venus, are not always positive. Planets in the Water Houses (4-8-12) tend to be more obsessive and the events that they trigger are more traumatic. The 4th House indicates a pattern of behavior that has come through the generations. It is then part of the Soul’s purpose of one born with planets in the 4th to attempt to break the pattern. I have female friends who have chosen not to have children as a way of breaking the pattern of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder that comes through the female line (that is, their mother is OCD, making then OCD as well). If they feel that they cannot change this pattern themselves, they do not have children and pass on this reaction to anything not perfect.

One of Scott’s specialties is astrology of location where he combines three systems of astrology of location to identify great locations for clients: Astro-Carto-Graphy, Geodetics and Local Space. Personally, I have observed that my Ceres line, which goes through Mittenwald, is a place of nurturing. I feel that I am going home to my Spiritual Mother when I return to Mittenwald. However, for some people who too easily get caught up in nurturing others feel that others take advantage of their nurturing urges on the Ceres line.

As we were exploring spirituality, Scott noted the role of the Vesta line as a place where your spiritual energies are focused. One’s Vesta line offers a connection to your spiritual heritage. In my own chart, Vesta and Ceres are conjunct so that this area in my A-C-G has a strong spiritual quality to the nurturing that I feel. I am always able to access Spirit and gain messages from my Soul Group much more easily in these locations.

With regard to Astro-Carto-Graphy and relocation, most astrologers use Longitude in determining where the lines are place. Scott prefers Longitude lines with smaller orbs. Scott said that Jim Lewis, who developed Astro-Carto-Graphy in the 1980s used Mundo lines.

Scott also looks at the Geodetic map. Jim Lewis knew about this system intuitively but he did not use it. The Geodetic map aligns with system of longitude that puts 0° Aries at Greenwich England and the signs move east. For example, St. Petersburg and Kiev are on east side of 30 degrees, ruled by Ta**us. Europe is ruled by Aries and Russia and the Middle East are ruled by Ta**us. You can understand culture by understanding these geodetic maps. For example, Leo is on the Ascendant for Venice-Austria-Bavaria-Alsace of France. These are areas of great historical opulence. Bavaria is the home of Ludwig’s great castles, such as Neuschwannstein, often called Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.

As an example, Scott noted the horoscope of Thomas Jefferson, who has 0º Aquarius on his Ascendant. Jefferson was most influenced by Venice (Leo) and this became the new model for Monticello. So, know that it can be the Ascendant or the Descendant energies that draw us in.

Jim Lewis said in a lecture that he knows that there are people with strong connections to a location to Middle East and many people with middle Leo are attracted to this area – but this is not shown in the A-C-G maps.

In using the Astro-Carto-Graphy maps, the Geodetic signs and Local Space, Scott is able to determine where the journey of the soul is in focus.

Evolutionary astrologer, Jeff Green, focuses upon what the soul is here for, what we need to accomplish, and what we need to release. The Locational information is meant to support this evolution. That is, some locations or people who come from these locations will facilitate our spiritual growth.
The Geodetic energy of the land, the vibrational frequency of the land, is the same energy of the physical body and ASC/DESC axis. People come to these areas and feel that they belong. Scott uses location to support the journey of the soul.

Mercury (communication) had the ability to bring people out of Hades -- he could cross the boundaries.

Scott is hopeful that there is a new group of souls coming into being in the next generation. In a sense, these Souls will be at the vanguard, being more integrated inwardly, helping to heal the great split that has being going on. LYNN: This is an excellent explanation of Transpluto leaving Leo, where it has been since 1938, and entering the sign of Virgo, its ruling sign. Scott agrees in that Virgo is our path of trying to find one’s own vestal path – the unnderstanding of our sacredness. We are the architects of our lives – only we determine our destiny and karma and only we can make the choice to move beyond the fate of our stars.

Do you know why the Sun, the Moon and the Stars are constantly on the move? If you know, then move in harmony with them. If you do not know, move in harmony with them anyway -- and one day you will know!

With regard to the current Pluto-Uranus alignment, Pluto wants us to get rid of our astral baggage; Uranus will replace that with something more unique and more liberating so that we can move life forward in a more progressive way.

Christiane seems to sense the pulse of what is occurring energetically and, personally, I am blown away by the insights here. For the first time, I see how Transpluto in Virgo is manifesting. I told the story, in my first Global Gatherings, of my strange meeting with Christiane several years ago when there was a train disaster traveling from Munich to Salzburg. We have remained “kindred spirits” and, while we are very different, we have so many common threads in our lives.

In 2011, Christiane invited me to stay in her home in the small yet highly sophisticated village of Utting Am See. This is a community of artists and people who support the arts. Her home reminded me of my childhood fantasy of a magical European cottage. Where we differ is that she possesses the intuitive sensitivity of an artist and I do not but there are more similarities than differences. I am always rescuing feral cats and she has brought abandoned cats from Turkey to her home.

During my 2011 visit, this village had their Christmas market. Since it is a small village, everyone knows everyone. There was an open bon fire for keeping warm. There was hot wine – a favorite of mine in Germany. There is a small bakery in the town that I am adopting as one of my Happy Places. In each town, I try to find a Happy Place – a place that is warm and cozy and I am always happy there. This little bakery is one of those places where coffee is only 1 Euro and they often offer samplings of the best Stollen for the holidays.

The story of Christiane is the story of all of us. I have observed from Christiane’s experiences that, what she experiences during the course of the year, we will all experience very similar emotions and internal responses. Because she is an artist who relies mainly upon her intuitive energies, she is strangely adept at sensing the new, incoming energies.

When we met in late November 2011, her art had gone through a major transformation but, with the shifting astrological energies, no one will know if the changes are permanent or transitional. Christiane sensed that she was caught between two worlds -- but not belonging to either world – one being esoteric and other being conventional. She felt that the lesson was in Acceptance and the Acceptance of NOT KNOWING – that is, accepting that you do not know.

I told her about the Neptune-Transpluto transiting opposition and both changing into their ruling signs:

There is a transiting opposition in the skies, operating since fall 2010 and into 2012, that is causing people to want to end a pattern in their lives. Many find themselves saying: "I am tired of being a Good Girl/Boy, I am tired of care-taking, I am tired of menial tasks, I am tired of seeking the approval of others, I am tired of being a perfectionist, I am tired of micro-managing...I want to let go of it all but I do not know what will take its place, especially after years of maintaining the pattern of behavior!" This is a great ending cycle but it is very difficult to determine what the new cycle will be making us feel like an airplane, circling the airport, waiting for instructions to land.

This transit occurs at the same time that Regulus changes from 29 Leo to 0 Virgo – the Royal Star leaves the sign of royalty and enters the sign of the common man and the working classes. On the day that Regulus entered Virgo, the first OCCUPY WALL STREET gathering occurred.

Christiane agreed that she is tired of projecting “nice” into her art. At this transitional time in her life, her work is no longer nice! She feels that her lesson now is to view her art in a neutral way, without emotions. Astrologically, the shift is occurring from August 2010 until February 2013.

The Keyword for this period is INTEGRITY – to be your True Self regardless of what others think (Transpluto in Virgo). We are shifting to the next dimension and this will be a very different dimension. In the past, you could only do this through death. Now, we can do this without dying, by pulling the 5th dimension to us. This is the first insight into the manifestation of Transpluto in Virgo. It is essential that we be true to our Personal Integrity – we are urged to make the decision to be authentic. With Transpluto in Virgo, the first Souls will begin to incarnate who bring in this new energy. Once this new energy is here, life will actually be easy – the polarization in humanity will be greatly diminished.

Oprah Winfrey said that, until we are manifesting our True Self, we cannot achieve our Highest Potential!

Christiane feels that the Cosmos does not want to get rid of Its Workers -- so we have the opportunity to live in different worlds at the same time. But, this is hard for the body to work with this energy. The New Dimension of Consciousness will feel like a parallel world where rules are different.
Christiane said that allergies are connected to feelings of being unlovable. Indeed, respiratory problems are associated with the Heart Chakra.

INSIGHTS INTO THE VENUS TRANSIT: What was challenging in 2004 will be normal in 2012. What have you been doing that was not accepted in 2004. This will change! Christiane started her Embodied Art in 2002, had an exhibition in 2004 but now her style is changing and evolving. She is using the color black from Space/Cosmos.

NOTE: Christiane has created a black painting as a veil to the next dimension. You can vaguely see the life force on the other side. This is very descriptive of this time, a-waiting for the new cycle to begin.



THE VENUS TRANSIT – A Post by Lynn Koiner

This is a period when Venus crosses the face of the Sun, an event that occurs about every 130 years.



Before the last Venus Transit, I was trying to find a historical pattern. Then, amazingly, there was a program on PBS about Impressionism. The first exhibition occurred at the time of the first passing. This shocked the art community and this type of art was assaulted. The Last exhibition occurred with the 2nd crossing and this type of art became main stream, opening an opportunity for the truly modern art that was presented at the turn of the 20th century.



If you have seen an exhibition of Impressionism in a gallery, you will know that you must stand at a distance to really see the painting. If you stand close, it is a mess!



I examined the dates in each century and I saw that the Venus Transit offered an opportunity to view one's world in a very different way. In the 1760s, we began to consider the possibility that the common man could rule himself -- which led to the American and then French Revolution.



A couple of years ago, in a discussion in my A.R.E. group, we all realized that 2004 had been a pivotal year in the lives of everyone in the group. I could not figure out what happened astrologically that triggered such transformational events but I now see that it was the Venus Transit!



For me, I contracted the Epstein-Barr Virus that triggered painful neuralgia. The pain lasted for 2 years. This was a life-altering event in my life because it put me onto a very new path in astrology -- a greater interest and research with medical astrology and remedies for health issues. This continues to this day.



I have always collected charts for various diseases but my studies became more intense as a result of the 2 years of hell. I realized that inflammation from sugar and many foods (intolerances) caused the pain. Within 2 weeks of changing my diet, the pain was gone and it only returned when I ate my fudge and Christmas cookies. I returned to the diet and the pain left within 2 weeks.



As a direct result of this experience in 2004, I lecture extensively on this topic, I teach for the International Academy of Astrology and I write for a Medical Forum, hosted by an astrologer in England.



In each century, the Transit of Venus alternates from Gemini to Sagittarius, the next Transit occurring on December 11 2117 and December 8 2125, 8 years later (8 years being a cycle for Venus).



The Transit of Mercury occurs much more frequently. This occurred 14 times in each century. I have observed that new ideas inspire humanity at this time. There are informational breakthroughs at this time.

GLOBAL GATHERINGS 2011 – Ema Kurent -- November 20 2011 – Ljubljana Slovenia

ECLIPSES - THE PROGRESSED MOON - Perigee/Apogee

Ema Kurent is the most famous astrologer in Slovenian. We first met about 12 years ago on my 3rd or 4th visit to Slovenia. Her astrological annuals are even sold at the local post offices. And, for the past year, she offers a personal daily transit report, a report that one receives by e-mail daily. This can be obtained at www.astrojoy.com I receive this every day and enjoy seeing what the transits will be throughout the day. She also lists the major transits and progressions for the month and the year.

It is always a treat to meet with Ema since she is a scholarly astrologer with adept knowledge on many fields and systems of astrology. At this meeting, she discussed Pre-Natal Eclipses, which she prefers to call Co-Natal Eclipses (I will use this term in this article). On this topic, she has been influenced by Bill Meridian and Charles Jayne. Research has shown that eclipses are powerful destiny markers – they are used in Mundane (the charts of countries and of famous people) and Natal predictive astrology.

NOTE: I have an article based upon my lecture notes of Bill’s workshop at UAC that is posted on my website. I did not copy material from his book or his handouts. I only converted my lecture notes into an article.

The Eclipse before and after birth plays an important role in the destiny and character of the individual. For example, the eclipse that made Obama rise in his station was the eclipse that occurred after his birth.

Ema places great importance on Eclipses and the nodal points in relation to birth chart. If a person has a close aspect of natal planets with the co-natal eclipse, that planet plays a major role in the life -- and it can make the individual outstanding in some way – for good or ill.

The Houses that are activated by the eclipse – and the Co-Natal Eclipse can be solar or lunar but solar is always more powerful – shows the battle field or area of intense activity in the life. It is a Battlefield because of the pull of the nodes in 2 different directions, trying to find equilibrium.

Harmonious aspects with benefics – such as a sextile from the natal Venus -- to the eclipse point is beneficial to the life and the Houses will not be a battlefield.

For the progressed position, you need to make the calculation for your year of birth. This will be part of my lecture on the Progressed Moon for the BREAKING DOWN THE BORDERS Conference in December 2012.

I always look at the Perigee Moon when it occurs near a New of Full Moon…or an eclipse. I have an article on this topic on my website with the Retrogrades for the current year.

Ema is a self-taught astrologer who has also studied with many famous astrologers in Europe. Being primarily self-taught, she has many innovative ideas and she is sufficiently knowledgeable to challenge the thinking of the famous astrologer, if she does not agree. I can always tell if an astrologer is self-taught because they are not molded by the teaching of another astrologer, especially if the teacher is a famous astrologer. The concept of using the progressed Perigee and Apogee Moon was a totally new concept for me and I immediately began researching the impact in the progressed chart.

Ema has observed that the Perigee Moon has a lunar quality and the Apogee Moon has solar quality. During the Perigee periods, woman, children and public play important role in life – publicity, family, children and popularity are highlighted. During the Apogee years, this is the least emotional and the most objective time of life. Objective decisions are made. Ambition plays an more important role. This Cycle is career oriented and self-sufficient. These will be major turning points in life for these extreme phases of the progressed Moon. Ema uses the Moon for the timing of the greater transits, such as the Uranus-Pluto square. The Moon is an activator.

TIMING OF MY TRIP IN NOVEMBER 2011 & URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS:

Every time I take a major trip I always look at the Moon’s aspects for the period AFTER I leave my home for the airport. On November 13, 2011, the Moon was in Gemini and the aspects occurring after I left my home were a Grand Air Trine with Saturn in Libra and Neptune in Aquarius. The last aspect that the transiting Moon makes before you leave can tell of some situation that occurred before leaving. This aspect was an opposition to Venus.

I discuss UTI prevention and other medical remedies in COMMON CURES I on my website under “Medical Astrology.” Stress can also trigger UTIs and I am always highly stressed getting ready for my trips to Europe. When I arrive at the airport, I am fine but, during the week leading up to the trip, I often become physically ill. With the Moon opposing Venus before starting the trip, the stress led to a urinary tract infection.

The first line of defense is to take 5 pearls of Cranberry Concentrate. Since I did not have time to see a doctor, I looked at what was available at Vitamin Shoppe – there I found a miracle cure! There is a 3-day treatment produce called UT ANSWER (http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=BB-1455) but it seems to work with a few hours. It costs $30 but this is much cheaper and better for the body than a visit to a medical doctor. On my trips, it is essential to drink a LOT of water. This flushes out the bacteria. I visited a doctor friend in Slovenia and she advised that the cranberry formula was better than any antibiotics that she could give me.

Astrologically, when starting a trip, I personally like the Moon’s last aspect to be favorable to Neptune. This is not always possible now that Neptune has changed signs whereby it will only be in early degrees for many years. There is an exception – the Moon can be parallel Neptune. With this aspect, I always sense that a Guardian Angel is with me, guiding me and even speaking to be. Even when I bought a new car in January 2012, I chose a day with the only aspect being a trine to Neptune. I had a vision of the car that I would purchase and I knew the Dealer where I would get the best buy. Magically, my dad gave me $11,000 towards the car (the Fiesta, with all of the discounts only cost $15,700 and gets 45 mpg) and by 12pm I was driving it out of the dealer parking lot.

NOTE: In 2012, I will be leaving on October 14 with the aspect before leaving being a contra-parallel to Venus and the aspects after commencing the trip to be parallel Sun, trine Jupiter, parallel Saturn, Mars trine Uranus), Moon conjunct Sun and, most important for me, the last aspect is a parallel to Neptune!

In electional work, always use the Parallel aspect. It is considered a powerful conjunction. The impact of the parallel is more permanent that the contra-parallel, which rules temporary connections.

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF CHEMISTRY 2011 – COFFEE ASTROLOGICALLY VIEWED

The International Year of Chemistry was observed in Vienna, Austria, with a discussion of Coffee by Veronika Somoza, an American who is a professor at the University of Wien/Vienna. She has written a book entitled COFFEE – EMERGING HEALTH EFFECTS & DISEASE PREVENTION.

In America, coffee always made me very ill, usually because it was served with milk. It was during my 2nd visit to Europe, in the town of Heidelberg, Germany, that I had my first cup of Bavarian coffee without milk and only a little artificial sweetener. It was wonderful! Since that time, I have bought bags of Bavarian coffee home from my annual visit to Europe. Now I find that I can purchase Dallmyr Bavarian coffee at a small market called Rodmans. That year I had my first cup of Polish coffee in Poznan – that is, coffee served with Cherry Cordial!

As I listened to the lecture on coffee, I thought about the astrological signatures for coffee and, with my many years of studying astrology, I knew the significators immediately: Virgo – Uranus – Moon/Venus.

Let me explain my reasoning: Many years ago I observed that caffeine was the drug of choice for Virgo. Virgo is one of the food addiction signs (with Cancer) so coffee is a tasty and stimulating beverage. The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant to the central nervous system so that the next rulership would be Uranus. Consumers feel that coffee gives them energy but it is not a Mars-type energy – it is mental due to the stimulated nervous system.

The Moon has a relationship with food, food addictions and food intolerances. It is also rules habitual behavior, such as one’s morning coffee. The Moon and Virgo can attracted to coffee because of its health benefits. One could also make an argument for Venus – it is both pleasurable and social, especially in Europe, where everyone meets at the many local cafes for coffee and conversation. In Europe, and wisely so, coffee is always served with a glass of water to neutralize the acidity and to prevent the absorption of calcium from the body! In Austria, it is considered rude not to include water when the coffee is served.

NOTE: Because coffee depletes Folic Acid in the body, it is essential to take this, especially as an under-the-tongue liquid supplement. Folic Acid prevents inflammations which can lead to Alzheimers Disease or heart attacks and strokes.

In Professor Somoza’s lecture, she gave a list of the biggest coffee consumers, specifically in Europe, and given per person in one year:
Finland – 12 kgs; Norway – 9 kgs; United States 4 kgs; Poland only 1.5 kgs (to convert kgs to lbs, multiply by 2.2; this makes the U.S. consumption to be almost 9 pounds person)

She added that Americans are known to prefer a very bitter coffee – even in Europe, Starbucks serves the bitter, overly roasted coffees. There is another brand, Mayorga, produced locally (Rockville Maryland) that is even more bitter than Starbucks. I was only able to tolerate Starbucks coffee when they began producing their BLONDE variety which is less bitter. Yet, I hear people commenting that it has no taste or flavor, simply because it is not bitter. In Europe, the Italian brand, Illy, is bitter, as well as the French roast but none are as bitter as found at Starbucks and Mayorga!

NOTE: Green coffee beans are not bitter, the darker the roast the more bitter and light roast is mild.

Professor Somoza discussed milk coffee combinations. While some people found it beneficial, it is not suggested to mix milk and coffee. This is the exact sentiments of Edgar Cayce who described in many readings that, while coffee is like a food for the body, mixing milk in the coffee would have a toxic effect. Personally, I become violently ill after drinking coffee mixed with milk. It is akin to food poisoning for my body. Yet, another friend can only drink coffee with milk as she feels that it helps with the acidity, since dairy is neutral in the digestive system.

Healthwise, she said that there can be harmful effects from excessive consumption, since caffeine is a stimulant to the central nervous system that increases the heart rate, blood pressure and basal metabolic rate. Caffeine can also cause nausea, insomnia, headaches and cardiac arrhythmia. Since it increases gastric acid secretion, caffeine can cause gastro-esophageal reflux (GERD/Heartburn).

Dark roast coffee is more effective than light roast coffee in reducing body weight and in restoring red blood cell vitamin E and glutathione concentrations in healthy volunteers.

Moderate coffee consumption is associated with a reduced risk for diabetes mellitus type II, several types of cancer or Parkinson’s disease, as prospective cohort studies have shown. Since reactive oxygen species are believed to be involved in the pathogenesis of these diseases, antioxidants in coffee might contribute to this risk reduction.

Professor Somoza found that a dark roast coffee beverage (CB) rich in N-methylpyridinium (NMP) and low in chlorogenic acids has stronger antioxidant effects on human erythrocytes than a CB prepared from a light roast with opposite proportions. This means it restored red blood cell vitamin E and glutathione concentrations in healthy volunteers.

The NMP-CB intervention also reduced the body weight in pre-obese subjects, indicating a significant potential for body weight control by dark roast coffee brews containing high amounts of NMP.

SAN FRANCISCO, March 21, 2010 — With stomach irritation preventing almost 2 out of every 10 people from enjoying coffee, scientists today reported discovery of several substances that may be among the culprits responsible for brewing up heartburn and stomach pain in every cup.

Their report, presented here at the 239th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society, included the counter-intuitive finding that espresso, French roast, and other dark-roasted coffee may be easier on the tummy because these roasts contain a substance that tells the stomach to reduce production of acid.
