A little help with groceries can go a long way, especially for families trying to keep up with rising food costs.

For this week's Philanthropy Friday, we made three deliveries to organizations helping local families put food on the table.

The Parsippany Community Center received a variety of breakfast foods and everyday favorites, while Loaves & Fishes of Boonton and the Boonton Food Pantry received rice, pasta, and other staples to help keep their shelves stocked.

These organizations do a lot behind the scenes to make sure people in their communities have somewhere to turn when they need groceries. We're fortunate to have them nearby and glad we can help provide some of the supplies they need.

At JMR, we're also intentional about donating organic, nutritious food. We believe everyone should have access to quality ingredients, and that's something we'll continue to prioritize in our giving.

A lot has changed since 1951. One thing hasn't: the family behind J.M. Rodgers.

What began as a family-owned business has grown into a nationwide leader in customs brokerage, duty drawback, freight forwarding, and international trade compliance.

Over the decades, we've welcomed new generations, expanded our services, embraced new technologies, and navigated an ever-changing world of international trade.

But through it all, we've held onto what mattered from the very beginning: the relationships we build, the trust we earn, and the pride we take in our work.

Today, 75 years later, J.M. Rodgers is still family-owned, still evolving, and still driven by the same commitment that started it all.

Here's to the generations who built our foundation, the people who continue to move us forward, and everything still to come!

A lot has changed since J.M. Rodgers was founded in 1951.

What started as a family-owned business has grown into one of the nation's established global trade and logistics providers, with capabilities spanning customs brokerage, duty drawback, freight forwarding, and trade compliance.

But what really sets JMR apart is what we've built behind those services: experienced teams, advanced technology, rigorous internal oversight, and a commitment to continuously improving how we operate.

We've spent 75 years building a company that clients can depend on, and we're still finding ways to make it better.

Another Friday, another chance to highlight some of the great work happening right here in our community!

For this week's Philanthropy Friday, JMR supported two local churches that help provide food and other essentials to families in their communities.

At St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Mountain Lakes, we donated baby food, cereal bars, and cooking essentials to help provide families with nutritious options for both children and adults.

We also made a delivery to Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church, bringing a variety of rice and other pantry staples to support their food assistance efforts.

Both churches play an important role in helping neighbors who may be struggling with grocery costs or simply need a little extra support. We're happy to contribute to the work they're doing and help make quality food more accessible to local families.

A cheaper broker can look like the better deal on paper, but the real cost shows up when entries are oversimplified, duties are applied incorrectly, or compliance details get missed.

In this case, Section 232 duties were being applied too broadly, putting the importer at risk of paying more than necessary.

JMR rebuilt the process around the actual steel and aluminum content within each product so duties could be calculated more accurately and supported by stronger compliance documentation.

The lowest brokerage fee does not always mean the lowest total cost.

Sometimes, paying less for brokerage means paying more somewhere else.

This week’s Philanthropy Friday covered a little bit of everything.

At the SS Cyril Food Bank, we focused on the things that don’t always come to mind when you think about a food bank: laundry detergent, soaps, and hair care products.

Everyday necessities that families need just as much as what goes in the pantry.

We also helped stock Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church with nutritious staples like rice, oats, and baby food for their community outreach efforts.

And our third stop was St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, where we dropped off cat litter, pet shampoo, and dog treats to help with the everyday care of the animals waiting for homes.

Different organizations, different needs, and that’s really the point. Giving back isn’t always about donating the same things. It’s about paying attention to what’s actually useful.
