Once home to more than 70 towers built by wealthy rival families competing for power and prestige, this remarkable hilltop town still has 14 standing today.

Walking these cobblestone streets feels like stepping straight into medieval Italy. And as a bonus you can have one of the best gelatos in the world at Gelateria Dondoli. One of Tuscany’s most unforgettable places!

Once the seat of the Catholic popes, Avignon is one of southern France’s most fascinating historic cities!

From the magnificent Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes) to its medieval streets, lively squares, and famous bridge over the Rhône River, Avignon is packed with history and Provençal charm.

During the 14th century, Avignon was the center of the Catholic Church, leaving behind an incredible architectural and cultural legacy.

Guidester Sacred Heart Sicily Tour has come to a close. What a fun 10 days guiding an amazing group through the best of Bella Sicilia. These are some of my favorite places in Sicily that I really believe capture the essence of what makes this such a special place. You’ll all be missed and look forward to the next adventure!

Our final stop for the tour was 2 nights in the stunning seaside town of Taormina. We first toured the Ancient Greek theater overlooking the lush landscape and Mt Etna in the backdrop then everyone a full day at leisure to explore the famous town on their own, followed by a final farewell dinner on the water. A great way to end this wonderful tour!

Villa Romana del Casale is an absolute marvel that most American tourists miss when they visit Sicily. We had a private tour of the ancient Roman villa with the best preserved mosaics ‘in situ’ (in the original place) in the world - over 37,000 square feet of gorgeous ancient mosaics.

We explored the incredible Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, home to a slew of Ancient Greek Temples, followed by a lunch in a local farmhouse in the countryside.
