There are two kinds of theme-park mornings:

✨ “We need to arrive before Early Entry, follow the carefully planned route and accomplish three major rides before breakfast.”

…and…

☕ “We’ll get there when we get there. First, I need coffee—and if we spend 45 minutes looking at merchandise, that’s part of the vacation.”

The funny thing is, neither person is doing it wrong.

Some travelers feel happiest with a detailed strategy. Others want room to wander, follow the vibes and suddenly abandon the plan because they spotted a snack shaped like a beloved character.

And some of us create the detailed plan…then immediately get distracted by a dragon breathing fire. 😂

That’s why I don’t believe in handing every traveler the same “perfect” itinerary. The best plan is the one that fits how you actually enjoy traveling.

Which theme-park traveler are you: strategic rope-dropper, relaxed wanderer or beautifully chaotic combination of both?

Hot take: I don’t think everyone visiting Universal Orlando needs Express Pass. 🎢

It can absolutely be helpful—especially during busy seasons, for larger groups or when you’re trying to accomplish a lot in a limited amount of time—but I don’t automatically recommend it for every trip.

Universal’s regular queues are often part of the experience, and Single Rider can be an excellent option if your group doesn’t mind possibly being separated. Even people traveling in pairs or trios sometimes end up riding together anyway—it just isn’t guaranteed.

And honestly? I would rather wait 120 minutes for Gringotts than 60 minutes for Frozen Ever After. 😂 Universal’s queues usually give me more to look at and make the wait feel less painful.

Express Pass is less about whether it’s “worth it” in general and more about whether it’s worth it for your specific trip—your dates, budget, priorities and tolerance for waiting.

Would you rather pay extra to skip most of the lines or save the money and work with the regular queues and Single Rider?

🚨 Dark magic returns to Universal Orlando TODAY! 🖤✨

Beginning today, August 27, Death Eaters descend upon Diagon Alley on select nights through November 1.

Then, beginning September 5, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle returns to Hogsmeade on select nights through November 1—with Dementors, Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort taking over the castle in a spectacle of music and light.

And yes, I am already preparing my wand. 🐍🪄

Theme-park shoe advice usually stops at “wear comfortable shoes.”

My advice? Bring two different pairs of comfortable, already broken-in shoes. 👟👟

Rotating them changes the pressure points on your feet instead of irritating the same spots every day. It also means one pair can dry after rain or a water ride—and if one suddenly starts rubbing, you aren’t trapped wearing it for the rest of the trip.

And please don’t make a brand-new pair’s first big adventure a 20,000-step park day. Your feet will remember the betrayal. 😂
