The tissue samples on the deceased Deer in Stallion Springs, have came back....
From: CDFW Biologist. June 2, 2026
The deer labs are back.
They tested positive for Odocoileus adenovirus 1 (OdAdV-1)

A confirmed diagnosis of Adenovirus Hemorrhagic Disease (AHD) indicates that the animals are infected with Odocoileus adenovirus 1 (OdAdV-1), a pathogen known to cause severe, often fatal systemic or local vasculitis in cervids like mule deer and black-tailed deer.
It is primarily transmitted between deer through direct contact, shared bodily fluids (saliva, f***s, urine), or indirectly via contaminated water, feed stations.

Tehachapi Volunteer Wildlife Transport (TVWT) is a volunteer-based wildlife transport network. We are not a rehabilitation facility and do not diagnose or treat injuries or illnesses, nor do we hold wildlife for rehabilitation. Our role is to transport injured, orphaned, or displaced wildlife to licensed rehabilitators, veterinarians, or authorized permit holders.

Animals are moved as quickly and safely as possible, though in rare after-hours situations an animal may stay overnight with a transporter until transfer can occur. Any overnight holding is strictly temporary and conducted as part of a 24-hour Good Samaritan effort to ensure the animal reaches appropriate licensed care as soon as possible. There are no licensed, permitted, or authorized hold volunteers or leads within TVWT transport team .

Individuals associated with TVWT do not speak on behalf of rehabilitation facilities, agencies, or law enforcement unless authorized by those entities. Personal opinions and actions are their own and do not represent TVWT.

Our mission is simple: help wildlife reach proper care safely and lawfully while supporting the public and licensed wildlife professionals.
