There’s a steady kind of peace that comes from farming a truly sustainable crop. Being back on the water at the start of the growing season brings a sense of calm and focus that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
Early in the season, the kelp is smaller and tender — we call it baby kelp. When we trim about half of each blade, it regrows, allowing for multiple harvests from the same frond. It’s a simple, regenerative system that reflects the resilience of this crop.
Baby kelp is harvested sparingly each season, with care and intention. Today’s harvest will be headed to as soon as we get to the docks.
Growing season is here. 💚🌊
