I cannot say this enough. When you book with a travel advisor, you are not a number to me. You are a client, a friend, and someone I genuinely want to see have a perfect trip. I am with you from the first quote until after you are home and unpacked. You get my actual phone number.

Book through a warehouse club and you get an 800 number when something goes wrong. And something always goes wrong eventually. A flight cancels, a resort overbooks, a hurricane changes your week. That is the moment you find out what you actually bought.

Here is something most people do not know. Many of our top suppliers like Royal Caribbean and Disney do more business through travel agency portals than through direct or third party bookings. There is a reason for that.

Are all travel advisors the same? Absolutely not. Some of us do this full time as a career. Some do it for the perks and are not fully trained. Some do it on the side. So ask questions before you hire one. This is a relationship and it should go both ways.

And we do not cost you extra. We are paid by the suppliers. Some advisors charge planning fees for their time and expertise, many do not. Either way, we are often working with you for a year or more before we see a dollar.

So next time you go to book, think about it. Even if you have done it yourself for years. Even if you have sailed that ship five times.
