Below deck is prepped and ready for the deck to be installed. We built a coffin to house the tank that will allow air flow underneath and around it. We mounted starboard blocks that are neoprene covered under and around the tank and wedged it in place and strapped it down as well. The tank was lightly sanded, acid etched, coated with zinc chromate and then coated with fascos steel flex epoxy to insure it will last a very long time.

We removed the cap and removed the balsa wood core which was wet. Once we removed the wet core we laid a layer on 3/4oz csm into the cap and recored with foam on the port and starboard side and coosa on the forward section of the cap. After that we laid down two layers of 1708. The cap is super strong and better than original.

Quick update on the 16’ Privateer Bay Boat restoration we’re doing. Hull has been reinforced due to the removal of the port/starboard aft support boxes and third stringer. The stringers and bulkheads are installed, as well as all rigging tubes. The forward deck has been raised and lengthened to provide space for batteries and dry storage/insulated fish box. Also, the changes made to the forward deck will provide more storage space for the anchor locker and a larger access hatch will be installed.

We had a client come in with his own flooring looking for us to install it for him before the weekend so he could go boating. We were able to make well on his timeframe for delivery, even though all measurements and cuts were made by hand. This project turned out awesome and we’re proud to be a part of giving this rig a cool new look.
