Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at Midwest Star Group on a full-time basis. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles, including heavy-duty automotive, commercial trucks, trailers, buses, and heavy equipment. You must possess a strong mechanical background, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
• Perform complex diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work on diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical setups, and hydraulics.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance (PMs), and annual DOT safety inspections.
• Operate shop machinery, diagnostic software, and specialized repair tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and adhere to all shop, OSHA, and environmental safety procedures.
• Accurately document repair orders, parts usage, diagnostic steps, and completed labor in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with service managers, parts department, and fleet dispatch to prioritize urgency and fleet readiness.
• Provide occasional mobile service or shop support as needed.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician, or Commercial Fleet Tech
• Valid driver's license
• Strong diagnostic skills across diesel electronics, hydraulic systems, and air brakes
• Must possess your own standard set of tools (specialized shop tools provided)
• Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and clear communication
