Another legendary local restaurant has teamed up with us to bring their unique flavors to the airport! We’re thrilled to announce that Tacos Chiwas is now open at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

Founders Armando Hernandez and Nadia Holguin met by chance over a decade ago and quickly bonded over their shared PASSION for the culinary arts and the restaurant industry. They married in 2014 and opened their first Tacos Chiwas two years later. Their menus focus on northwestern Mexican cuisine, highlighting the unique flavors of their home state of Chihuahua and the surrounding regions. Located in Terminal 4 near Gate B5, PHX’s Tacos Chiwas seeks to bring this same PASSION and taste of place to locals and visitors alike.

“Nadia and I are honored to bring Tacos Chiwas and the flavors of our hometowns to PHX,” Hernandez shared. “We are passionate about offering genuine northwestern Mexican cuisine, and we believe that food has the power to connect people and celebrate culture."

“We’re excited to see a local favorite come to our terminals,” said PHX Aviation Director Chad Makovsky. “Being able to offer travelers a taste of delicious cuisine that represents our region is important to us. It’s another way we’re continuing to elevate the passenger experience.”

SSP America Senior Vice President of Development and Pursuit of New Airports Scott Welding added, “It’s an honor to work with Armando, Nadia, and the PHX team to bring this iconic Phoenix restaurant to Terminal 4. As a Phoenician, I understand the anticipation that has surrounded this opening and what it means to the community. I am excited for guests to experience the vibrant flavors and unique atmosphere of Tacos Chiwas. It’s a wonderful addition to PHX that truly showcases the rich culinary culture of Phoenix.”

The SSP America PASSION Cup made its third of four stops on its 2025 tour across the PASSION Cup-winning airports. The Cup was at Eastern Iowa Airport • CID, which is under the direction of Director of Operations Jeff Ries.

Jeff commented, "Winning the PASSION Cup is a tribute to the CID team. Their ability to persevere through the challenges we encounter is reflected in this award. Their PASSION for every detail, faith in the process, and dedication to each other is what allows us to deliver a great guest experience and overall results throughout the year."

The Cup has one stop to go: St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, under the direction of David Turner!
