StandardAero has expanded the maintenance capabilities at its Van Nuys Airport facility to support select Bombardier Global aircraft.

The newly authorized services include airframe inspections and repairs, structural work, and avionics services—adding to the facility’s long-standing support for Gulfstream aircraft.

As LA County prepares for another fire season, two CL-415 Super Scooper aircraft will continue operating from Van Nuys Airport following approval of a new five-year lease agreement. These specialized aircraft can scoop up to 1,600 gallons of water in just 12 seconds, providing rapid support during wildfire response.

VNY plays an important role in serving as a vital base for lifesaving aerial firefighting operations that help protect communities across Los Angeles County.

For 33 years, LA County Fire has used giant planes that scoop water out of the sea for dousing wildfires. They renewed contract today for Super Scoopers with Canada.

We also thank the pilots, airport personnel, air traffic controllers, mechanics, first responders, military members, and countless aviation professionals who help keep our skies safe every day.

From Aviation International News: A coalition of six aviation organizations is supporting California Senate Bill 661, which would direct 20% of state aviation fuel tax revenue to California's general aviation airports for infrastructure improvements and maintenance. Supporters say the bill would provide a more consistent funding source for GA airports while maintaining the remaining revenue for statewide aviation programs.
